To be annoyed at this birthday situation

My dd was supposed to be going to an indoor trampoline place with her best friend on Sunday. They've discussed it at school today and the other girl has said we can just say we're sisters!
I've said no. Not spoken to the mum yet but am waiting for a text about it. Dd is now crying saying it's so unfair as they are together in a classroom all day. To be fair I can see her point but then that's not illegal. Would you let your child go and lie?

Yes - on this occasion given they are in a school bubble and there is just the two of them I would just say they are siblings.

bettybyebye · 13/10/2020 18:06

Yes I would

Cocomarine · 13/10/2020 18:08

I wouldn’t encourage my child to lie. I would take her coincidentally at the same time. I appreciate that you may say that’s hypocritical as it’s still teaching her to break the law. I wouldn’t argue with that. But for me it’s important not to tell my child to lie.

MiddleClassProblem · 13/10/2020 18:10

Are you not allowed to bounce with them socially distanced? Is this about how to get there?

Are you in a stricter area?

Quarantino · 13/10/2020 18:11

Are you in an area with no household mixing? Otherwise it's fine?

yankeetid2020 · 13/10/2020 18:17

Are they not allowed to go together? My dc is going to a party in a trampoline park next week with 5 others.

StealthPolarBear · 13/10/2020 18:19

We're in the North East and only allowed to mix outdoors after Wednesday (but not at all at the moment)

Pinkginandlemonadeissoyummmy · 13/10/2020 18:33

We're in tier 2. No mixing with anyone indoors apart from your own household

How does that work, unless they're going to open the venue for one household at a time? Confused
BackBeatTheWordisOnTheStreet · 13/10/2020 18:40

I would just go on separately and let the girls bounce together but don't socialise with the other parents.

tigger001 · 13/10/2020 18:51

Personally I wouldn't be going inside such a place at the moment, but if that's not your issue then.

if they are open, surely they expect more than one person to be in at one time.

So if you genuinely didn't know they were going and you both happened upon her, would you whisk her out of the venue?

I would not socialise with the parent, but let the girls have a trampoline together.

ReneeRol · 13/10/2020 19:04

I'd let them lie. They're in school with each other all day so as long as they're not hugging each other or anything, I think there's more harm in not allowing a bit of extra socialisation among those who are already around each other.

Bringmewineandcake · 13/10/2020 19:09

They can't lie because each person has a disclaimer to fill in before they can go into the trampoline park. Her real name and age will need to be given. So it's a risk as to whether the trampoline park staff will enforce the no mixing, or if you can take her yourself and just meet the friend there to bounce alongside.

Brieminewine · 13/10/2020 19:12

I’d let them. I’m in tier two and went to a trampoline park with my toddler the other day and there was lots of groups sat together that obviously weren’t from same household so I don’t think it will questioned to be honest.

lockdownalli · 13/10/2020 19:33

Well in a Tier 2 area I wouldn't be going anywhere near an indoor trampoline park for a start.

Can you afford the fines if you get caught?

Pinkginandlemonadeissoyummmy · 13/10/2020 19:34

So I'm in the minority then! The place might end up closing as it obviously isnt going to open for 1 family at a time. But my point is it's illegal from tomorrow to meet up indoors with others

Marchitectmummy · 13/10/2020 19:38

No I wouldn't, I wouldn't want to teach my children to lie and ultimately tbe illness its really ramping up now not worth it.

LuaDipa · 13/10/2020 19:40

I’m all for following the rules but in the case of schoolchildren they are absolutely bonkers tbh. I agree with pp’s. I wouldn’t lie, but I would arrange to be there at the same time.

lioncitygirl · 13/10/2020 19:48

They’re in the same bubble tho?

NailsNeedDoing · 13/10/2020 19:53

Yes, I’d let my children go. It’s unlikely anyone will be asked but if they are it will be the adult and your dd won’t need to lie. As much as we need to teach children to follow rules, we should also allow them to think about whether rules are right or fair, because sadly they aren’t always.

Justwingingmotherhood · 13/10/2020 20:01

They are together everyday at school. There is no difference? Just let her go

pennylane83 · 13/10/2020 20:02

I don't share the same surname as my children, its a very common scenario (step families, unmarried parents with children, foster child etc - all within the same household) so staff would be foolish to challenge your right to be with the people you present with.
Thepilotlightsgoneout · 13/10/2020 20:23

Surely it will shut? Then the problem will be solved for you.

awesomeaircraft · 13/10/2020 20:24

I thought sports were excluded from SD requirements.

ItCouldBeBunnies · 13/10/2020 20:27

Yes I'd let them go and lie.

We're going to soft play next week "with" DD's best friend. I'll book a table and the friend's mum will book a table. Both adults have to stay at their table but we can wave from afar or whatever but DD can play with her best friend just like she does every day at school.
