to think Keir Starmer just wants to tell Boris Johnson to fuck off

I know it wouldn't be professional. But in Parliament, Boris gets to give his statement, Keir replied to it - and Boris then attacked that reply and the Labour party.

Keir isn't allowed to reply to that. He just has to sit there whilst Boris gets to make more replies.

I think Keir just wants to wipe that smug grin off Boris's face and tell him what he thinks of the reply Boris gave. But he can't.

Alexander Johnson looked in bad shape in the HoC today - moulting like a weary beast. I suspect being PM hasn't been as much fun as he was expecting. Ah well, never mind. 2024, 2024, 2024 (repeat until bored).

MrsAvocet · 12/10/2020 20:56

@Helendee

I’m sure Boris feels the same!
Boris wants to tell himself to fuck off??Hmm Well yeah, I guess that would make as much sense as anything else he has said recently. Or ever.
Fizbosshoes · 12/10/2020 20:56

I wish there was cross-party, or collective alliance to deal with it, without point scoring and criticising, ( and to stop the Tories just handing out contracts to their useless friends)

DrManhattan · 12/10/2020 21:01

I wish he would.
Also the new speaker is rubbish, can Bercow come back please

rwalker · 12/10/2020 21:02

Kier just points out problems (same ones majority of countries face ) stirs shit up but never actual suggest anything feasible .

Hand on heart love all labours policies but the only sticking point is they have no way of paying for them .

StormzyinaTCup · 12/10/2020 21:07

Bercow stirring the pot is the last thing we need at the moment, IMO.

nosswith · 12/10/2020 21:07

I think Keir Starmer would probably most like to be facing Boris Johnson in a court room. Which is where I think Mr Johnson should be, facing criminal charges (corporate manslaughter comes to mind).

GetOffYourHighHorse · 12/10/2020 21:08

Keith tries soo hard to be 'forensic' and take control but with that awful nasal whine he just can't pull it off. Johnson bellows and swats him away like the wibbly flip flopper he is so yes, he probably does want to tell him to fuck off instead all he can do is sit and stare at him. It's all very bizarre and quite pitiful to watch.

You missed the talk about targeting furlough (now being done), working with local health authorities (now being done), looking at sick pay because people won't self isolate (being done)

@LovelyLovelyMe

But what would Keir Starmer-or anyone-do that would be better?

It seems that no-body anywhere in the world knows the best way forward-so depressing.

@LovelyLovelyMe, one thing would be hopefully would not have given test, track and isolate system mainly to private companies who have centralised the system which has not worked well. Public health experts said it should have been responsibility of local state funded public health teams who have the expertise and local knowledge.
GetOffYourHighHorse · 12/10/2020 21:12

'Also the new speaker is rubbish, can Bercow come back'

He is awful, he gets in such a strop shouting and spitting in fury. I much prefer the 2 deputies.

chomalungma · 12/10/2020 21:21

I heard that being discussed right at the start of lockdown. It's definitely been mentioned in Parliament several times.

Wouldn't that be great to see at PMQs. I put it to my Right Honourable friend... that he should fuck right off.

It would be an improvement on HoC usual behaviour! It is scary how little capability is being displayed at present.

Are you actually serious, @GetOffYourHighHorse?
Johnson doesn’t answer any questions, doesn’t have any answers and if he ‘bellows’ it’s because he’s lost his grip. Starmer remains calm and keeps on with the same message.
Mind you, anyone who thinks calling him ‘Keith’ or criticising the sound of his voice is at all clever reveals straight away that they have no actual points to make...

bakewelltarty · 12/10/2020 21:40

@rwalker - I think this govt has proved that we are a lot better off as a country than they would have us believe. They duped us into 10 years of austerity. There is money to spend on good policies. The Tories just didn't want to spend on public services until they had no choice.

unmarkedbythat · 12/10/2020 21:42

Johnson is inadequate and knows it, and knows Starmer knows it. You can see Starmer getting under his skin. It is enjoyable.

There's no way Johnson will hang around that long.
Thedogscollar · 12/10/2020 21:57

In my head I say this to Boris on a daily basis.

Anniegetyourgun · 12/10/2020 22:01

There's a tall old building round my way which has been waiting for years to be either repurposed or demolished, and some wag has somehow managed to climb up to the roof and spray paint "FUCK BORIS" all around the outside. It may not be a particularly original sentiment, and graffiti is of course vandalism, but you have to admire their steeplejack skills. Well, it certainly amused me.

Nonamesavail · 12/10/2020 22:03

I wish he would.

unchienandalusia · 12/10/2020 22:05

God did someone wish the loathsome Bercow back up thread. Shudder. No thanks.

I don't think anyone is going to 'win' out of all this and certainly KS is refusing to stand by any particular strategy as he knows as well as anyone that no one knows anything so he's sitting back criticising without offering up alternatives. I'll take the first but not the latter. Pathetic.

puffinsseagulls · 12/10/2020 22:09

I agree trust is important and Keir Starmer said he would have sacked Dominic Cummings.

Johnson looked like he had a lot of dandruff in HoC today - all that ruffling his hair I suppose.

chomalungma · 12/10/2020 22:10

as he knows as well as anyone that no one knows anything so he's sitting back criticising without offering up alternative

Criticism: The test and trace is centralised
Alternative: Use local resources

Criticism: The furlough scheme is ending and people will miss out
Alternative: Target people who need support

Criticism: Testing isn't being done well enough because of reliance on big labs
Alternative: Use local labs

Maybe you weren't listening to those alternatives?
