I'm usually one for you get what you pay for but I currently don't have the budget for the likes of olaplex and my bleached hair is like straw so what's the best I can do off the home bargains shelf please ?

Try Syoss salonplex. I think it’s great - available in Savers and Tesco.

On a budget the best I’ve used is Bleach London reincarnation hair mask, currently on offer too:

Usually get a few treatments out of it too. Wrapping hair in a towel helps, the warmth seems to help masks do their thing quicker I find.

Please trust me on this (I know it sounds crazy)

Mix a bottle of beer with an egg in a bowl and apply to your hair, wrap in a towel and leave for an hour or so

Then rinse (Luke warm water at first to avoid scrambled egg in your hairGrin) and wash your hair

Beer is amazing on hair😁 Just don't put it on in a summer!

The baby conditioning spray is by Johnson and is called no more tangles I use this most days after a shampoo to get tangles out and it is good. I wish it had been around when I had a young daughter with waist length hair - hair brushing in the mornings was a nightmare!

Pantene Repair & Protect is fantastic for dry hair. They do a shampoo, conditioner and treatment.

Palmer's protein pack (you'll find it in the afro haircare section usually) shampoo, blot with a towel, apply root to tip and finger comb through then put a plastic bag and beanie on your head to keep in the heat and leave on for an hour or so. Try to leave enough moisture in the hair so it doesn't go crispy. Your hair will probably be greasy as hell the day after but try to brush it through and not wash for a few days. After that next wash you'll see the soft, shiny difference. It's all relative to your own hair though, I've seen the hair food mentioned a few times above and that stuff's horrible for my hair, makes it feel dry and knotty. Don't do it too often though, a bit of protein/ keratin is good for hair but too much of either can make things worse.
If you try the above and it works you can try all sorts (Tresemme and 3 minute miracle were my go to masks) using the same method. In the summer sit outside with wine all day with the sun heating your hair and a mask on, my hair looked lovely in the summer pre kids!
