I'm usually one for you get what you pay for but I currently don't have the budget for the likes of olaplex and my bleached hair is like straw so what's the best I can do off the home bargains shelf please ?

Perhaps try the style and beauty forum?

Rock3pillo · 09/10/2020 13:46

Hi! I have bleached hair and use a brand called Goldwells Rich Repair. You can usually buy a big bottle on amazon and it lasts months

Whatup · 09/10/2020 13:48

Have you tried those hair conditioning caps Poundland do them with pugs or flamingos on them. ( Not the point) when I want to treat myself I get the Aussie three min miracle

SchrodingersImmigrant · 09/10/2020 13:48

I like Aussie products.

To be absolutely honest, at the end of the day there is no magical product to repair the hair itself, it will always be visible they are damaged, sadly. Only way I got rid off visibly damaged hair was scissors.

Sexnotgender · 09/10/2020 13:49

Have you tried Superdrug’s version Pureplex?

Hazelnutlatteplease · 09/10/2020 13:50

Tresemme dry and damaged

Or more eco friendly this shampoo and conditioner bar

hammeringinmyhead · 09/10/2020 13:50

Try Garnier Hair Food. I use the banana one.

Pushpushpoosh · 09/10/2020 13:51

Tresemme. And the kids detangling spray, not are who makes it. Its in a green bottle.

CallmeIT · 09/10/2020 13:54

Banana hair food. About £3 in home bargain. Can use as conditioner / mask / leave in. Really makes a difference to coarse and dry hair.

Catsup · 09/10/2020 13:55

I use almond or olive oil to deep treat my hair every so often. Apply, wrap in clingfilm, pop a towel over the top to keep in heat, leave for an hour, apply shampoo before water to wash out. Always makes it come out lovely.

areallthenamesusedup · 09/10/2020 14:23

My hairdresser says it is not what you use, but how you use it.

I have dry coarse hair. I wash, towel dry, put conditioner on and leave it on as long as possible.......often overnight.

Silky smooth!

Shxx · 09/10/2020 14:27

Apogee two step protein treatment

www.amazon.co.uk/Aphogee-Balancing-Moisturizer-Protein-Treatment/dp/B01D8CVHE4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=aphogee+two+step&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1602250011&sr=8-1

On amazon its this price, go to any afro hair shop like Paks it's about £8

Terrace58 · 09/10/2020 14:29

Due to allergies my conditioner options are limited. I just use my regular conditioner, but leave it in as long as I can manage. Someone describes the process above.

Sexnotgender · 09/10/2020 14:37

Agree to a point.

I often put conditioner on dry hair which makes a big difference.

If your hair is bleached it’ll be high porosity and putting your conditioner on dry will really help.

Also it probably needs protein. The XHC conditioner from Poundland/home bargains etc has protein which my hair loves. At £1 a bottle you can chuck loads on dry hair without breaking the bank.

HariboLectar · 09/10/2020 14:42

The banana hair food stuff once a week, you can leave it in but I leave it on for about 10 minutes, then the banana conditioner from B&M / Home Bargains not sure on the brand but it's a quid a bottle.

xwizbit · 09/10/2020 15:08

Creightons Keratin from Home Bargains. It is in a red and silver bottle. 99p! They also make a keratin hair mask which is in a "capri sun" type packaging for £1.49.
Absolutely brilliant!

wondering24 · 09/10/2020 15:13

Body shop coconut hair oil is AMAZING!! It's not super cheap (depends on your budget) but a bottle lasts ages. You can leave on overnight and shampoo off in the morning.

sunflowerstory · 09/10/2020 15:18

Try using a hair mask in place of your conditioner (i.e. shampoo, rinse, hair mask on for 20 minutes, wash out). I use Kerastase Resistance, but L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil is a very reasonable budget dupe - £3/pot in Boots right now!

gobbynorthernbird · 09/10/2020 15:39

If you can get to a shop (or find one online) that sells afro hair products, then there are loads of deep conditioning/protein hair masks and conditioners available for reasonable prices.

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 09/10/2020 15:42

I use pure almond oil from the supermarket and comb it through dry hair once a week and leave overnight. Works a treat! Super cheap and natural.

LeSquigh · 09/10/2020 15:56

My hair was in this situation once, and it broke off badly. A PP is right in that there’s little that will really help but scissors however argan oil did help to an extent.

Tafelberg · 09/10/2020 16:36

L’Oreal Dream Lengths intensive conditioner mask - the sachets. They’re usually £7/8 per sachet but often half price in Superdrug. Comes with a self-heating hairnet/cap thing. I love it, really makes my hair feel softer and in better condition (and I am fussy with haircare Blush)

sueelleker · 09/10/2020 19:38

You can buy pure coconut oil quite cheaply in most supermarkets.
