To ask you to tell me about your pets?

My two childhood pets have died this year in the space of about 3 months.

I have such lovely memories of them and I feel so sad about it, although feel even worse for my lovely Dad who had to deal with it. He was very close to our dog, they had such a bond. It was absolutely devastating for him when she died during the initial lockdown at home. We stayed up with her all night and stroked her and told her how loved she was as she went.

Now his (mine as a child!) cat has just had to be put to sleep too. He wasn't allowed to be with him in the vets when it happened due to the restrictions so I know he's feeling a bit guilty and upset about that.

I have a dog of my own now and I love him to pieces, my little sidekick. It's very unfair that they go before us.

Tell me about your pets and what you love and appreciate about them? A time they've made you laugh or smile? Smile I'd like to just remember for a little bit all the positive things these two little lives brought to my childhood.

This pretty lady rules our home.
She is a bit shy and not really a lap cat.
She is very talkative sometimes and loves her naps. She will come over when you call her name because she hopes to be stroked or get a (gentle) slap on her hip (she LOVES that - weird cat).

This is Gatsby. My daughter found him behind a skip at work. He was alone and crying. He know owns the house and asks to be fed 62,000 times a day.

The dog is my lovely Penny. She is glued to my side all day.

The cat is Yngwie. She was put to sleep about two weeks ago at the ripe old age of 21. My husband got her when she was five weeks old, just before he moved into his first house. He's a bit lost without her.

Liftupthereceiver · 08/10/2020 15:15

My kittens are 7 months old. My girl cat likes to suck on my clothes. She is shiny and chunky and brave. She transports everything she finds to different locations around the house. My boy cat sits on my shoulder like a parrot and rubs his face in my hair. He is into everything and if he can't see me gets all anxious and shouts for me. They make me happier than I can express without sounding strange.

I have two lovely black cats. When they were kittens we didn't have a proper kitchen table just a garden one with a hole for a parasol. As kittens they used to play going through the hole.
Then the male cat got his head stuck in the hole. Managed to get him free but the dopey thing didn't learn and tried to go through the hole again so we had to block it up.

@spiderlight; is he a cocker or a sprocker? We have 2 spaniels; an ESS bitch, and her sprocker son (she was pregnant when we adopted her, so we got a bonus dog)
We also have an 11 week old Coton du Tulear puppy with no name as of yet. Call him/her Tully?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/10/2020 16:16

@sueelleker he's a show cocker, although from the size of him and his mahoosive feet, we think he might be crossed with a cart-horse. He's literally about twice the size of every other cocker we meet.

leiaskye · 08/10/2020 16:47

This is Leia & Skye.
Sisters, now 4 years old.
Both crazy, but in different ways.

Leia is very nervous, & barks when there’s too many people round here.
Skye is really friendly with everyone, but does roll in fox poo given half a chance 🤢

Ruby & Dexter - pooped pooches after their walk! Both have the hump because they had to have a bath due to the sheer volume of 🦊 poo they rolled in

@QueenOllie, your cat’s adoring face has made my afternoon. What a character!

I am a fellow black cat enthusiast. My boy, Felix, pictured here was an absolute joy. I adopted him whilst living overseas and he emigrated back with me before, sadly, disappearing.

I remember him fondly for sitting on his favourite humans’ chests, doing Usain Bolt-worthy sprints after going to the toilet and letting me hold him like a baby.

I have a pet tarantula. Just after he moults he’s all wobbly and super fluffy, like a baby deer crossed with a duckling!

But he can also be a little git - like when I fill up his water and he immediately starts filling up the dish with soil 🤨

sueelleker · 08/10/2020 18:46

@spiderlight. So's ours; he's coming up 9 yrs,and weighs 22kg.
