The beards gone....

So “D”P shaved his beard off this evening. He’s had it for at least 5 years.
He looks like a complete stranger.

AIBU to make him sleep in the shed?

His Covid beard was pretty spectacular -if somewhat wild.

I’ve already warned him I’m not going near him until it’s grown back.

I'd be so happy too, then again I would not be with a man who had a beard. They are uncomfortable to kiss with, and I don't trust men with beards anyway. They hide expressions. It's why pollies usually don't have beards or shave them off before they go into politics. Studies were done on it and men with beards are seen as shifty.

BillyMurphy · 06/10/2020 21:34

My DP has had his magnificent beard for four years. I'd be gutted if he shaved it off.

CatsArePeopleToo · 06/10/2020 21:34

YANBU. In the doghouse he goes

Strange, I'd be all him like a rash because there is nothing more sensual than a smooth face when necking. If he grew it back, I'd threaten divorce.
SimonJT · 06/10/2020 21:39

I’ve been able to grow a full beard since my early teens, since then I have alwaye had some sort of beard, be it a full one or just heavy stubble with a moustache. Last year for Movember I have my first clean shave in about 15 years. I was informed that if I ever did it again I would be dumped with immediate effect.

Rexasaurus · 06/10/2020 21:59

We’ve joked about him being in the doghouse if he shaved.

He’s not even smooth faced. He’s all stubbly 😖

I would be so happy!! Why do men want to wander around looking like Rasputin? I read that the hair in a beard is akin to pubic hair and i wouldn't want that in front of me all the time.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 06/10/2020 22:52

I've been with my DH since he was 17, it's our 14th anniversary since we started going out tomorrow. And in those 14 years I've only ever seen him completely clean shaven once, 3 years ago. And I have to say, the sight of his naked chin... it was almost grotesque Blush I was so glad when it grew back.

nancy75 · 06/10/2020 22:57

DH usually has quite a big beard, when he shaves it off he looks like his head has shrunk - I don’t like it at all! Both Dd & I are quite clear, if he shaves he has to live in the shed until it grows back

StormBaby · 06/10/2020 22:59

I would be devastated. Beards are sexy. DH looks about 16 without his.

ViciousJackdaw · 07/10/2020 00:11

If Mumsnet was a newspaper, the headline for this thread could be 'Person slated for making choices about own body hair'.

Anordinarymum · 07/10/2020 00:19

I foolishly thought you were talking about Nicola Sturgeon OP :)

Tillygetsit · 07/10/2020 01:02

Mine shaved his off 2 weeks after our wedding. He looked like a 14 year old girl. I cried an refused to touch him until it grew back!

romany4 · 07/10/2020 01:06

YANBU.

There's nothing more of a turn on, than having your neck kissed by a bearded man imo.
My DH is 50. He's had a beard for 25 years. I'd divorce him if he ever shaved it off!

PercyKirke · 07/10/2020 01:08

YANBU. DW (who was fiancee at the time) screamed when she saw me clean shaven for the first time and wouldn't see me again until it grew back. That was 35 years ago. DCs have never seen me without a beard.

PopsicleHustler · 07/10/2020 01:17

Cant imagine my hunk without his beard. Hes got a lovely one and its part of our religion to have one.

Toddlerteaplease · 07/10/2020 01:46

My ex had a long full beard. He tided it up a bit for me. And did shave it off for a while. He looked so much better without it. I loathe any sort if facial hair. Especially stubble. Really don't like this fashion for young men to look like a George V!

OccultGnuAsWell · 07/10/2020 06:48

My first husband varied between clean shaven and beardy.

With the beard he looked like Rowan Atkinson in Blackadder 2.

Clean shaven he more resembled the 1980's David Jason in Open All Hours.

I preferred Edmund over Granville any day.

CoalCraft · 07/10/2020 06:58

It was strange when DH shaved his head. For the first few days I panicked (mildly) when I first glimpsed him because I thought there was a stranger in the house!

You'll get used to it though.

Montmartre · 07/10/2020 07:00

So pleased to see all the beard love on here!

nosswith · 07/10/2020 07:05

OP your DP must be one of the 1% of men who look better with a beard. Most look awful.

serialreturner · 07/10/2020 07:06

@Leaannb

My husband did that and my 3yo at the time freaked her shit...Pit him in the shed
Same with the 6 year old.

My Dad did the same in the 1970's....... my wee sister (2.5) couldn't cope - screamed her head off!

"Mmuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmyyy!!! There's a MAN IN THE GARDEN"

Mum "That's your Daddy!"

Sister "Noooooooooooo! My Daddy is furry like a teddy!!!!!!!!!!!"

Rexasaurus · 07/10/2020 13:49

He definitely looks better with a beard. Still not used to it

addler · 07/10/2020 13:57

DP did this a few months ago when I was newly pregnant and very emotional. I burst into tears and dramatically exclaimed 'you don't look like the man I love!' Blush

He hasn't shaved it since.
