Yesterday morning I was at the scene of a car collision and was the person who called the ambulance and police and stayed there for three hours until the scene was cleared.
Police took my statement and details but I never got to know the names of the family involved and would like to know if the parties involved are okay and well?
A friend suggested I phone the local police station or hospital which they went to but my partner seems to think this is really nosy as I don't know the people involved

I do see his point but after seeing and hearing all that went on yesterday I can't stop thinking about them and if they are okay

AIBU to want to know this info??

Ask the police to pass your details on to the affected family and ask them to get in touch. They may choose not to but GDPR doesn't stop the police from giving YOUR details to THEM, just from giving their details to you.

@IHaveAGreyLamp
Thank you so much for your helpful reply. I have phoned the local station who connected me to the area officer who will be calling me with updates in the morning.

@SunshineCake thanks but not looking to impress anyone. As a few of the posts say, I don't want names, praise or thank you'd. Just piece of mind

Frankly I think the police will provide you with an vague update on their condition if they get in touch with you again. I wouldn’t personally call the police for an update on their condition as it’s not your place.

They won’t provide personal details but I’m sure they will be able to say whether they’re in hospital or whether they have recovered etc. It might even be disclosed as part of the investigation eg “death” by careless driving

What's nosy is I want an update on their condition, and I'm not in the least deserving of any update!

Hope for your sake they are recovering from their injuries and the police call you back tomorrow.
