I'm single, never get invited anywhere by friends, so I thought what the hell!

Would it look weird?

Oh I'm jealous! I used to go for dinners by myself in my single pre kids days and I'd damn well enjoy it! Starter, main and a pudding and a couple glasses of wine. A good book or sometimes just watch the world around me.
I miss that sometimes. ☺️

I'm currently eating stilton and peppercorn mushrooms - delicious. The waitor came back all nervy and jittery haha and he helped me find the ale online that I'm drinking!

Maybe he's been on mumsnet and read what you said about him.

nolovelost · 04/10/2020 16:59

@allaglow haha that made me PMSL. My main is amazing.

MadCatLady71 · 04/10/2020 17:18

Of course you should do it! Take a good book and have a lovely time.

Shxx · 04/10/2020 18:08

Nothing wrong with this glad you went

userxx · 04/10/2020 18:10

What are you having for main?

iklboo · 04/10/2020 18:13

I think I know the chain of restaurant you're in. If I'm right the food on their menus is gorgeous. Save room for pudding!

katy1213 · 04/10/2020 18:14

Glad you're enjoying it. Might there be sticky toffee pudding?

cheesecadet · 04/10/2020 18:30

I had lasagne and chips, it's the nicest I've ever had! Love the food there.

Bonus - I was on my phone the whole time browsing the net and Facebook (which you can't do in company) AND I left as soon as I'd finished! No pudding haha, I was too full!

Not at all. I'm late 20s single mum so the weekends I had free pre covid I would sometimes go eat alone

Poulter · 04/10/2020 19:37

Good for you OP. Sounds like you had a fab time.

Shannith · 04/10/2020 19:44

Ha, I had a thread about is (once I got to the pub) and the unanimous consensus was to go for it.

It's weird as I used to eat out all the all the tine when I travelled with work and throughly enjoyed it so ni idea when I had such a brain fart about a nice UK pub Sunday roast.

It was/is fabulous. Do it. I ordered extra gravy and lots of extra sauce and ice cream with pudding and it was bloody fabulous.

The best local country pub is now doing takeaway roasts on Sundays. Sounds weird but is actually wonderful. Truffles cauliflower cheese!

DD is at her dads on Sundays so it's my treat with the crossword, some classical music and the cats. Google to see if anywhere local is doing similar.

StoneofDestiny · 04/10/2020 22:15

Glad you went - see people eating alone all the time and don't give it another thought. If you do want company though, join groups who have similar interest to yourself.
Only the animals went in two by two 😂

Also the added bonus is no pots to clean up at home 👍. You should make it a regular thing.
