To think that Costco just isn't that cheap?

I know you can buy stuff there you can't get elsewhere, but with the rise of shops like Home Bargains and B and M, a lot of the items just don't seem that cheap anymore...I usually come out with next to nothing.

I find most things cheaper when on offer at supermarkets.

Plus I found I was buying lots of shite I didn't really need. Went in for mince and softener and spent £400 🙈

I went for the first time recently and found it great. As pp say its about quality as well as price, they have a lot of great brands for less.

I bought quality coffee, dishwasher tabs, books, cakes, beans...plus lots more. I went as a guest but will be joining.

Their meat is great. And the cakes, scones and pastries are amazing. I also got my 2 shark cordless Hoovers in there much cheaper than anywhere else. They also have stuff that you can’t buy anywhere else.

@Thehop

Sometimes worth going but I never go and browse.

My DJ hates going with me because I price check online to prove it’s a bad buy 😂

I do exactly this 😂 Apparently I take all the fun out of it 🤣

There are perks to membership such as free extra driver on car hire which is £15.60 a day, which means card pays for itself if you hire for more than a few days.

I literally did a Costco run earlier, you have to be so careful not to be "blinded by the lights" in terms of what is and isn't a bargain

Some things are, some aren't. Worth as a PP said keeping track of what the comparisons are.

For example the big cases of canned fizzy drinks are not a bargain and are more expensive.

Bulk cans of Tuna? Bargain.

Their meat also works out much cheaper, if you have freezer space.

30 Diet Cokes - £8.50 ASDA

The food is excellent quality as it's the laundry and general cleaning products.

We also got a box of Brancot Wine for £26 last month which would retail at £28.

Also you can return anything at anytime and it's honoured. We had a broken food mixer and they replaced no problem. This was the first thing that broke and I was impressed

We holiday in the States and love shopping at Traders Joe's and LL Bean. Cosco sells some similar items.

I find them good for children/ teenage clothes. Also good for sledges, kites, kayaks and ski wear, wet suits and base layers.

The Kirkland own brand washing powder, dishwasher tabs, nuts, olive oil, coffee beans are excellent quality and value. The toilet roll, kitchen roll and hankies have around double the sheets of standard supermarket products so work out far cheaper.

The frozen food is also superb. The chicken kievs, ribs, chicken tenders are all firm favourites here.

I buy a whole side of salmon to portion and freeze. Industrial quantities of Aberdeen Angus steak mince that makes the best burgers. Alcohol, especially spirits and champagne, is cheaper than supermarket.

I don't bunny it's ever been cheap it's the buying in bulk. We don't have enough space for 262 loo rolls or 30kg of chicken so don't go anymore.

Legoandloldolls · 02/10/2020 19:47

Some things are cheaper and some aren't. We spend between 200-300 each time we go which used to be about every six weeks.

It was a nice way to waste a evening with the cafe which is cheap. Not so much fun in a pandemic. Still I like mooching about in their with dh.

Sandii · 02/10/2020 19:58

I always spend so much ! And l never find it cheaper than other stores , but l enjoy going there 😁 and we always treat ourselves to a couple of big food platters for when we get home ...yum !!!

I always buy tea bags and canderels which are cheaper than b n m. The books make lovely presents at great prices and the sheepskin slippers last for ages.
