Unfriend or unfollow?

Someone I know through an acquaintance sent me a friend request on Facebook. We are not friends but I do see them at a mutual weekly sports event so I accepted. Now my Facebook feed is filled with their far right racist memes! I could just unfollow and keep the peace but am tempted to unfriend to make a point. He will ask why. But ... he's one of those guys who is so stupid there's no arguing with him, he just doesn't understand! So, quietly unfollow or unfriend and tell him why when asked?

Definitely unfriend. If you're asked why, you can say you don't like his views.

DH and I ended up closing down our Facebook accounts because of idiots like this. Life is just too short.

What kind of racist posts are they? If you're going to feel awkward if he brings up why you're no longer a friend on Facebook then I'd just unfollow.

Why would you even entertain unfollowing and remaining "friends" with this racist?!

Unfriend them. Report the racist to Facebook!

If the racist asks why you unfriended them, tell them it's because they are racist and you are not, you do not want to be associated with a racist, and you do not wish to be bombarded by their racist posts.
