It’s everywhere, I don’t want to think that most dog owners are irresponsible, but from the amount I see - it’s not just the odd owner. Also - please don’t let your dog bound up to my child saying “don’t worry - she’s harmless”. How the f@@@ do I know that? And I don’t want to hear you then say “Christ - she’s never done that before” - after my child has been maimed...

I hate it it's disgusting. When I'm in charge of the world, dogs will have to go in their own garden and shouldn't be allowed to pop in public spaces!

SurreyHillsGirl · 02/10/2020 22:39

@KarmaStar

You know very well Yanbu so I don't understand why you've started a thread about it tbh. Yes every dog walker is responsible for cleaning up after their dog.we know that.shame on those who dont.I Is this just a rant against all dog's and their owners?I wouldn't let my dogs anywhere near you,it's easy to spot people like you.
Agree with this. It's just an excuse for another, very tedious, anti dog rant Hmm can't you think of something more interesting to bitch about?

And don't worry, my dogs wouldn't come anywhere near you, they have an aversion to dullards.

Plentyofshit · 03/10/2020 09:03

@SurreyHillsGirl I have an aversion to dog owners rather than dogs - I also hate vacuous reality TV shows. I’m pleased that you would keep your dogs well away from me - and hopefully all their shit too. I’m sure you enjoy snuggling up together and watching some ‘exciting’ TOWIE. I’ll stick to my dog free dullness.

That much is evident by the hysterical generalisations that the majority of dog owners don't pick up their dog's poo based on the fact you've seen some extra poo around the place.

There's an estimated 9.9 million pet dogs in the UK. I highly doubt the majority are leaving their dog's poo around the place, but as you say you dislike dog owner (which is probably why you started such a silly thread).

I hate litter at the beach. Shall I whine about how in the summer there is more litter than in the winter when I exercise my dogs and then say but there's more litter so obviously the majority of people never use a bin 🙄

CounsellorTroi · 03/10/2020 09:20

Fox shit smells far worse than dog shit. Dogs tend to prefer rolling in fox or cow shit, I’ve never known a dog roll in the canine variety.

They also regard sheep shit as a delicacy.

OohKittens · 03/10/2020 09:27

I won't go for any days out where there may be dogs. I only go to beaches that have complete dog bans. It's why I would never go to centre parcs.

FOJN · 03/10/2020 09:36

I've just come back and read the thread, OP your generalisations about dog owners sound quite unreasonable. I do feel sympathetic about your original complaint but it seems likely you are more interested about ranting on the internet about the problem rather than looking for solutions.

It's true that hell is other people but we have to live in the same world and share space, you might find it less stressful to consider that dog owners are your hell but you are someone else's hell.

CounsellorTroi · 03/10/2020 09:43

If you have an issue with dogs running free even if they are minding their own business and ignoring you, that is your problem and not the dog owner’s.

Plentyofshit · 03/10/2020 09:55

I am ranting. I hate it and I hate that I’ve had to pay an expensive subscription just so my children can run about on grass and explore the woods. I’m also don’t think it’s the minority, think lots of owners are letting their dogs having a sneaky poo when they think noone’s about.

Governoress86 · 03/10/2020 10:24

I am a dog owner and it absolutely infuriates me that some dog owners pick up their own dogs mess up. We live on a new build where there is a designated green space for children to play and for dog walkers and when I take my dog for walk, the amount of dog mess that people have left is disgusting, I end up picking most of it up because it's not fair to the other green space users. Not only that I'm sick of stepping in it aswell.
I completely understand where your coming from. There is no excuse for it

Daphnise · 03/10/2020 10:30

The dog waste is just a matter than cannot be solved.

As for dogs running up "only playing" this is a frequent thing, and certainly small children may not/will not like it.

Regarding being maimed.......A little over dramatic perhaps.

PennyCrayon85 · 03/10/2020 10:40

I would like to see the mask-police energy channelled into this issue.

We have lovely grassy areas here that are completely unusable because of the dog shite all over them.

I’m going to shamelessly generalise here but round here it’s the OAP dog owners that are the worst offenders for this.

PennyCrayon85 · 03/10/2020 10:42

Honestly I just can’t get away with the sheer brass neck of someone who would walk off and leave a dog shite the size of a human one in the middle of a pavement outside a school. Happens here on a regular basis. They should have their dogs removed.

Plentyofshit · 03/10/2020 10:43

I’m going to get this.

Again, there's an estimated 9.9 million pet dogs in the UK.
You honestly think that over 5 million dogs aren't being picked up after?

Given my dogs can do 2 poos a walk then my dogs alone could do 8 poos a day. Say those 5 million other dogs really did have their mess left by owners, that's a hell of a lot of dog mess.

Or maybe you're rightly annoyed about the minority who don't pick up but are so frothy with your open dislike of dog owners that you'd rather invent claims to justify your dislike than have a more rational view that those who don't pick up their dog mess are wrong.

Ridiculosity · 03/10/2020 13:43

I would start a facebook group.
Start posting pictures of the turds with the exact time and location found.

People who have dogs see each other daily on walks, if Mrs B was seen walking on New street by two other dogwalkers and then a poo is found on New Street, they’ll all be wondering whose it was. They will all start picking up their own dogs’ mess for fear of being later identified.

LST · 03/10/2020 14:02

OP what are you on about? I pick my dog shit up. I have said it 2 times now. He just prefers to shit next to the brambles rather than on the open field. I don't leave it any where

CounsellorTroi · 03/10/2020 14:05

It's supposed to be better for the environment if you just flick dog poo into the undergrowth if you can, where it can biodegrade, rather than putting it in a plastic bag. Not an excuse to leave it anywhere anyone might step in it. And I do pick up if I can reach it.

Plentyofshit · 03/10/2020 15:24

@CounsellorTroi!! If you can reach it??? Flick it into the brambles?? It’s YOU!! My SIL’s dog rolled in dog shit in the bushes! It was defo dog shit! We were walking over the mud flats to a coastal island - no foxes. It was the most vom inducing experience I have ever had, I had morning sickness/was trying to hide that I was pg/and had a shit covered dog bounding round me. I had to walk miles with it as it leapt up at my DD. Don’t care where your dog shits, you need to do some sort of mission impossible manoeuvre and pick it up!!!

labellesusage · 03/10/2020 15:36

Dog owner. Yes picking up poo to me is the worst bit of dog ownership but it's the the polite thing to do.
My dog has crap recall. I only let her off lead when there is no body about. She's giddy and a pita tbh.
Otherwise lead walks.
Especially around kids as she's scared of them. I have the opposite problem of parents letting their kids run up to my dog to stroke her when I'm telling them no. Need to get a harness saying I eat children

CounsellorTroi · 03/10/2020 15:55

@Plentyofshit I have never actually done the flick thing.

WorrierorWarrior · 03/10/2020 16:30

@coronafiona I agree with you. If people want to own dogs they should not be forcing those dogs on other people who do not wish to have a dog or are afraid of dogs.
To dog owners - it is your dog and your dog shit. I dont see why I should have dog shit tramped into my house. I dont want to walk in any of the parks or greens about here because of the amount of dog shit. I dont see why dog owners should have dogs on beaches. Your dog your shit keep the dog and the shit inside your own property

Drivingbuttercup · 03/10/2020 16:38

My sil has a series dog phobia. We recent went to the local park and the amount of dog owners who would just walk by and say "he's really friendly he wont bite" really pissed me off. Then because she was of asian heritage they thought it was a cultural thing where she needed exposing to dogs and would loosen the lead.

LolaSmiles · 03/10/2020 16:47

My sil has a series dog phobia. We recent went to the local park and the amount of dog owners who would just walk by and say "he's really friendly he wont bite" really pissed me off
So what should they do? Not walk by because of her phobia?Walk by but offer no reassurance? Stop their walk every time they see someone just in case the person is scared of dogs? Not go to the park with their dogs just in case someone with a dog phobia happens to be in the park?

If her phobia is so bad that the mere presence of dogs being walked is an issue then she needs to see someone about it.

Then because she was of asian heritage they thought it was a cultural thing where she needed exposing to dogs and would loosen the lead.
Did they say this? Lots of dog owners seriously said 'I'm going to slacken the lead because you are Asian and I think Asian people need to meet dogs'?

Or were they walking their dog and slackened the leads in the vicinity of you and your friend?

Drivingbuttercup · 03/10/2020 16:49

Easy keep your dog to yourself.
