It’s everywhere, I don’t want to think that most dog owners are irresponsible, but from the amount I see - it’s not just the odd owner. Also - please don’t let your dog bound up to my child saying “don’t worry - she’s harmless”. How the f@@@ do I know that? And I don’t want to hear you then say “Christ - she’s never done that before” - after my child has been maimed...

RHS also don't allow dogs other than service dogs. It's lovely

Hobbesmanc · 01/10/2020 15:21

Does my head in! We have loads of green open spaces for dog walkers- and a great enclosed running track- where a hard core of dog owners chose to exercise their dogs- the reason being that they can let them off their leads safely without a risk of them running off.

Firstly don't let your dog off if you aren't confident of bringing it back to heel. And secondly even if you use your pooh bags it doesn't all get clean everytime- dogs have dodgy tums often!

CounsellorTroi · 01/10/2020 15:51

Dogs and sports pitches just don't go together well IMO.

I agree that dog owners should not allow their dogs to shit on sports pitches. But said pitches are likely to have cat, bird and fox shit all over them too.

bengalcat · 01/10/2020 15:54

I agree . I’d like humans to take their rubbish / chicken bones home with them or bin it too so my dog doesn’t pick up their junk - exception applies where Mr Fox has been rifling through bins and doesn’t tidy up .

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 01/10/2020 16:03

Im a dog owner and i totally agree with you it really winds me up, if you cant pick up the poo you shouldnt have a dog. My biggest pet peeve is the ones who go to the effort to pick it up then leave the bag in a tree, on a fence or just left on the path Angry

My pup is only 5mths old but has pretty good recall already however he is put straight on the lead if we approach people or dogs on leads its just common curtesy, he can be a bit annoying around children as he lives with 3 so assumes all kids are going to want to play with him so we sre teaching him to sit as children walk pass, owning a dog comes with a responsibility to keep it from being a pain.

Ifailed · 01/10/2020 16:09

I have noticed in our park, though, that birds do go through the bins and throw out bags, so if there are bags of dog poo next to the bin it might not be the owners fault
or maybe the owners could just take their dog and shit home with them?

Ispywithmycynicaleye · 01/10/2020 18:16

He prefers the brambles at the side

So you crawl under the brambles to pick up your dog's shite? With your mobility problems? Hmm

so no fear of any footballers getting near to where he had pooed anyway.

Not out the realms of possibilities that the football might be accidentally kicked by an over eager little child and roll under the brambles at the side of the pitch where you take your dog to shite.

LST · 01/10/2020 20:05

He shitson the verge where the brambles are. I pick it up where did I say I crawl through them. I'll tell the foxes not to shit on the field in case a football goes in it. Haha 😂 you're picking fights with someone walking their dog wgere they are allowed to and picks the shit up. Christ.

june2007 · 01/10/2020 20:11

One peoblem is with the virus the bins were not being emptied and some even taken away. But still in a park or a green pepople should be responsable.

ViciousJackdaw · 01/10/2020 22:18

exception applies where Mr Fox has been rifling through bins and doesn’t tidy up

Maybe that's why Billie divorced him?

Plentyofshit · 02/10/2020 20:11

DOG SHIT is the problem! I can certainly tell the difference between a wild animal - fox/bird etc - and the steaming pile of stinky shit that comes out of a dog’s arse. If your dog shits in the brambles that’s is NO EXCUSE - other dogs roll in that crap. It is fucking disgusting.

Do not own a pet if you can’t take some fucking responsibility.

Yanbu.
In our village there is an old lady 80+ she has 5 dogs and never picks up.
I'm in 2 minds of feeling sorry she can't bend down and pick up. But I think maybe she could buy some sort of pick up stick thing?! Ive wanted to say something and offer help but I dont know what to say.
However, when I have it on my foot I feel less compassionate.

Plentyofshit · 02/10/2020 20:22

And - like another poster stated - from the increase/amount of dog shit I see around - it’s not just the ‘odd person’ - it’s the increasing majority. Taking over our green public places and making them a fucking minefield for anyone with small children. £100 quid I paid - just to get away from all the shit. It’s you dog owners that should be paying - not me.

OP posts:
CottonSock · 02/10/2020 20:29

@Insaneinthemembury same here, old lady whose dog takes a regular shit outside my house. I have banged on window to make her aware. Of course she knows, she just doesn't give a crap.

Plentyofshit · 02/10/2020 20:32

And when a child falls head-long into her dog’s crap I have no compassion. Old/young - I have zero sympathy and we should be challenging theses people. She knows EXACTLY what she is doing.

Our puppy kindly rolled in a liquid dog poo this week, it was so runny it would have been impossible for the owner to pick up.

Weirdly we sometimes see crows chucking things out of the bins, including dog poo bags, I’m guessing they are looking for food.

namechangeforfriday · 02/10/2020 20:47

I agree, it’s disgusting, I’m a dog owner and I always pick up. I don’t know who the people are who don’t but they obviously exist. The rest of your posts are “won’t somebody think of the children” hysteria though - I feel similarly about grubby annoying toddlers bounding over to my chihuahua and picking him up without asking.

We are dog owners -always rescues- my 11 year old walks are latest on lead only and cleans up poop -said before and will say it again -bad owners not bad dogs!

Fox shit smells far worse than dog shit. Dogs tend to prefer rolling in fox or cow shit, I’ve never known a dog roll in the canine variety.

Fox shit -the crack cocaine of dogs 🐕🐕‍🦺

MrsClatterbuck · 02/10/2020 22:26

Yes that happens where I live. Lots of people out walking their dogs at the sea front. The council have special bins provided but still some but not all owners refuse to pick up their dog's poo. One time when out walking there was this ginormous poo on the footpath. DH and I started to turn detective looking at all the very large dogs we saw wondering if it was the one.

DownToTheSeaAgain · 02/10/2020 22:33

My neighbour is lovely. Really lovely. But she is dog obsessed and has a huge blind spot about their shit. Refers to it as 'dog eggs' and the only ever time we fell out was when I suggested that owners should be penalised (not quite 'hangings too good for 'em') for not clearing it up. She genuinely doesn't understand how it blights everything about a stroll in the park- having to look down not up to avoid it, having to constantly point it out to the kids.

Maybe hanging is too good.....
