AIBU to buy this car?

I need a new car. I'm 100% sure I want a mini, and I've seen the volcanic orange ones around and thought they were amazing.

Booked in to view one (similar to the picture) and had a few horrified reactions from family.

AIBU to buy it? Should I get a boring black or grey one instead?

@Itsabeautifuldayheyhey

Well at least it isn't likely to get stolen.
What a stupid reaction.

Get it! After many years of silver mum cars I’ve finally moved on to a smaller two toned car and yes, he has a name and I love him! It used to be a running joke in our house about the number of times I tried to open the wrong anonymous silver car in car parks Smile! I feel I’ve regained a little bit of myself by picking the car I want and it makes me smile when I see it.

It was a 1972 version and replaced my 1959 standard herald in 2 tone coffee and cream
These days I still buy cars second hand so unless it’s awful don’t choose by colour
I once bought a green car in poor light thinking it was grey!!!

Assuming that you're in the UK and wanting a car for personal transport not for use on a race track, 90 MPH is more than enough anyway.

Performance is normally more about acceleration than top speed but if it could only manage 90 that suggests it was well down on power which means it would always feel slow.

Enjoy your car, OP! I just got rid of a sensible car and bought a 2 seater sports car and I LOVE it! Follow your gut instinct!

HouseOfGoldandBones · 28/09/2020 12:48

Definitely.

DS & I still play the yellow car game every time we're in the car.

Winner gets a twix at the end of every week.

DS is nearly an adult!!!

I had a bright yellow fiat and it was soooo cheerful to drive, you could spot it a million miles away and EVERYONE has black, grey or silver

I also think that dark small cars are harder to see on the road

If you love it, go for it

Sexnotgender · 28/09/2020 13:01

Go for it! Ignore your family, they’re not driving it.
