Cakey presents for One?

My elderly mum is clinically vulnerable, undergoing chemotherapy and isolating alone, 350 miles away. I would like to send her a small cake for her birthday. I know she would love a M&S cake, but Ocado don't deliver in her area (North East) so our only option would be a hamper and even the smallest is too big for her to eat alone without a lot of wastage (she can't have visitors). She doesn't need t-bags or coffee in the package as she prefers her usual brand. Alcohol is out. Cake plus flowers would work. Chocolate would work (but separate from the cake, so she could make it last).

Any recommendations?

Message muffins do smaller gifts.

You could find a local baker/bakery who might be willing to work with you. I'm a baker and it's something I'd be happy to do.

Have a look at Sponge, they deliver cakes, lots of flavours and they do baby cakes.

honeylulu · 27/09/2020 11:44

Bunches do flowers and add on small gifts including cakes.

Shamoo · 27/09/2020 11:46

I would second Sponge, very good cakes

Also got a fruit cake delivered to my mum for her birthday from Betty’s and that was excellent to. Ok for one. As long as happy to have it over a week, if that makes sense.

They also do after tea delivered

Thanks Tatty - I did see that one, but it's a bit too "rainbow" Smile. The Macmillan Afternoon Tea options are the closest match to what I want, but they will create some waste as she won't be able to get through it all and won't like the tea/coffee.

I always use Betty's of harrogate. Their fondant fancies were a hit with my nan in lockdown.
