Cakey presents for One?

My elderly mum is clinically vulnerable, undergoing chemotherapy and isolating alone, 350 miles away. I would like to send her a small cake for her birthday. I know she would love a M&S cake, but Ocado don't deliver in her area (North East) so our only option would be a hamper and even the smallest is too big for her to eat alone without a lot of wastage (she can't have visitors). She doesn't need t-bags or coffee in the package as she prefers her usual brand. Alcohol is out. Cake plus flowers would work. Chocolate would work (but separate from the cake, so she could make it last).

Any recommendations?

Sponge cakes freeze really well, she could cut into individual slices and get one out a day. Prolong the cake enjoyment!

Cutter & Squidge do postal cakes

I sent my friend a collection of Betty's of Harrogate cake/scone/cream tea bits for a big birthday during lockdown. They do hampers but you can just pick individual bits as well. She absolutely loved it because it brought back memories of a posh afternoon tea she'd gone on with her mum as a child. I got her a selection of (freezable) mini scones including the Fat Rascals (their cherry specialities), plus some jam, a tea loaf and some other bits. The customer service was great getting it delivered on the right day and it all came packed nicely.

That said, I've also used Sponge and Biscuiteers mentioned by other posters (I really like sending cake) and they went down well too!

Bigger size cake and recommend she freezes chunks!

Buy a small cake at M&S. Post it yourself.

Betty's do cake delivery.

I would do what someone else suggested and ask a local baker near her to make her a small cake and take it round. A lot of places are still doing deliveries. We did this during lockdown for a family member, got a cake delivered to their house and a nice meal. Worth asking the local shops/bakers.
