People round three weeks after c-section?

I'm pregnant with my first child. For medical reasons I am booked in for a c-section in two weeks.

My partner has said for his birthday (in 5 weeks) we could have his family round (assuming covid allows). This would just be his parents and teenager sister. This is partially so they'd all be able to meet the baby.

Am I being unreasonable in saying no? The reasons I want to say no are: -
-They live 4 hours away so they will inevitably move in for 5 days, this will entail them turning it in there house and mandating activities/trips.

  • I don't know if I will be up to it,
  • Covid.

However I feel bad, as it is his family and there first grandchild. They are lovely but remarkably overbearing.

I had a c section and 3 weeks late as doing the school run with my eldest (20 minute drive) and going to visit my horses everyday , so who knows how you will feel . That said I wouldn’t have had anybody actually staying at my house for more than 1 night , so if they want to visit fine but they book a hotel .

I'd not agree to anything because it's your first baby, you're having major surgery and you don't know how you'll heal or feel. As well as covid and them staying overnight.

If you agree to anything agree to a visit and let them stay in a hotel. I wouldn't be having them in the house overnight with a newborn.

Don't be bullied into it.

Pain wise, you should be fine 3 weeks after a c section.

But no way would I have had anyone stay for even 1 night while I have a new baby, let alone 5. Especially since you said they are overbearing. It is the last thing you need.

Dear god, no! No overnight visitors 3 weeks post partum when you’re still trying to establish breastfeeding, trying to sort some kind of routine etc. 5 nights would kill me under normal circumstances.
