To fucking hate putting clean dishes away?

It bugs me. Then they come back out the cupboard for the next meal anyway. My kitchen table currently looks like a bric-a-brac stall at the market with assorted (clean) plates, bowls, jugs, glasses.

In my dream kitchen I have one large wide tall cupboard. I can open one door and it can all go away. Better yet, a wall of open shelving which holds all my crockery and cookware.

It's the bending down, individual cupboards for each type of item. Then the cycle starts again at the next meal.

I just hate it.

Yup, 2 dishwashers is the snswer. It works exactly as described above. By the time you have filled the dirty one the clean one is nearly empty and just a couple of things need putting away.

MJMG2015 · 25/09/2020 21:51

Can you declutter the cupboards & rearrange them so it's not so much of a faff to put the dishes away? I find we use the same stuff most days, so I made more space for that (so, far less moving stuff to put things away) and after decluttering, I Tetris fit the -not everyday, stuff in other cupboards.

Two dishwashers was great!, but this kitchen is so small I now only have space for one.

A dear lady of my acquaintance, very prim, cracked a room up by saying 'I don't mind putting it in but I hate taking it out', I don't think she every realised why we laughed.

I hate the repetitive household chores in general. It's like, I get everything washed up and then my partner or his son have THE CHEEK to eat something using a clean plate!

Or I just get the washing basket empty and lo and behold, they decide to put MORE CLOTHES in it at the end of the day.

Our work is never done!

GoldfishParade · 25/09/2020 22:01

Clothes absolutely piss me off for this. That's why I have a huge overflowing laundry hamper where the clean clothes just pile up and never actually make it to the wardrobe

MereDintofPandiculation · 25/09/2020 22:07

Something I am grateful for on a daily basis - all the daily crockery and cutlery is in cupboards which can be reached from the dishwasher without having to move my feet.

This is why it’s my teenager’s job

Or get two dishwashers, just take stuff directly out of one, use and put into the other.

Bwlch · 25/09/2020 22:24

I don't see the problem OP.

My husband puts the clean dishes away.

gurglebelly · 25/09/2020 22:30

I totally agree. In fact it is a bit of a running joke with my OH that I don't like putting things away - clean washing, clean dishes, shopping..... Blush

Totickleamockingbird · 25/09/2020 22:36

Two dish washers is the answer to this problem.

weegiemum · 25/09/2020 22:43

That's what teenagers are for.

Loading and unloading dishwasher and folding and sorting clean laundry.

Going to be a bugger when they leave home (20yo already gone, pitchers are 18 and 16). Will have to start training up dh!

TheDuchessofMalfy · 25/09/2020 22:47

This is an ideal chore to delegate to older children for pocket money.

Dd (11)’s jobs are - unpacking the dishwasher and putting away, and putting her own clean clothes away. She also helps me put the shopping away if I ask her / helps me get it into the house off the doorstep.

It’s no co incidence that all these jobs involve bending down though as I have a bad back!

Ds has fewer jobs as he is 6 and Dd didn’t really have any jobs at 6.

Rosebel · 25/09/2020 22:50

I don't mind putting dishes away, it's clothes I hate. There is a chair in our dinning room overflowing with clothes (clean) because I can't be we see to deal with it. My children and husband have all commented on it but obviously doesn't bother them that much because I suggested they sort it out and they didn't!

Mrsdoubtfireswig · 25/09/2020 22:56

Clothes and shopping I don’t mind - but emptying the dishwasher is the worst job! Takes me less than 5 mins every day but I despise it!!

1000umbrellas · 25/09/2020 23:09

@united4ever

One ideas is two slimline dishwashers. When you need clean plates/cups take them out of the one that has been cleaned and when dirty put them in the other. Just using them like a cupboard which can clean them. In theory you never have to unload the dishwasher.
actual genius
RainyDaze4 · 25/09/2020 23:13

This is DH’s job as he likes things in certain cupboards- one of the few household jobs he does without nagging Grin

Like others I find filling it satisfying but I hate emptying! Same with washing clothes!

Smidge001 · 25/09/2020 23:19

I'm definitely in the two dishwashers camp! Love the idea.

You are a genius! (Runs off to see which kitchen cupboard can be sacrificed for dishwasher number 2....)
