Help me spend some money!

I didn't really know which section to put this in but here goes.
I work a full time, stressful job. I've work all the way through lockdown and missed out on holidays. I do know lots of people are in the same boat. But I need a treat, I need to spend some money on myself as I'm getting burnt out and the thought of a second lockdown with schools closing and just the juggling of life is getting me down.
So what should a buy myself? I have a few hundred pounds to spend not on the kids but on ME! and I have no idea.
I work in a uniform and have loads of comfy clothes, I don't really go out and already have going out clothes, shoes etc.
I don't wear makeup or really do my hair and I've still got a coupon for a massage and pani/pedi that I haven't used from my birthday.
Not overly keen on smellies or candles so I'm stumped. HELP

You could buy an amazing Lego set with that amount of money that could keep you busy for weeks. Those sets hold their money very well so you can sell it on afterwards.

Ohjustboreoff · 23/09/2020 20:42

@DontDribbleOnTheCarpet the Sonas bracelet is beautiful.

@CuteOrangeElephant I associate Lego with my son leaving it all over the floor so I can step on it without slippers on and swearing loudly! Maybe I should invest in new slippers Grin

A new mattress!

Minimumstandard · 23/09/2020 20:51

I'd spend it on food, relaxation and sleep. So... babysitter or extra nursery hours, new bedding, some new books to read in the bath, takeaways from local restaurants so no need to cook (not for the kiddies though...shove fish fingers and baked beans at them!), some expensive face cream and a few nice bottles of champagne.

FatGirlShrinking · 23/09/2020 20:51

Good headphones for the gym if you like listening to music or an audiobook.

I have wireless earbuds I use when exercising and waterproof MP3 player I use when swimming.

New gadget - Apple Watch, tablet, phone

RomaineCalm · 23/09/2020 20:53

I'd buy one of those hanging egg-shaped seats for the garden, a couple of really lovely blankets and a new mug.

When the weather gets cold I could be happily snuggled up outside drinking tea.

MissConductUS · 23/09/2020 20:54

An Apple watch? I adore mine and they just came out with a new one.

booandbumpp · 23/09/2020 20:58

I'd go for a new Kindle with loads of books on it and a glam and indulgent hair cut/dye/restyle!

AlCalavicci · 23/09/2020 20:58

If you like listing to music then I agree with PP get some good headphones , music lifts my mood and makes even the crappyist day feel a better .

Go to a hotel for a night or two and go for a walk round a new city , then a trip to the cinema and find a really fancy restaurant to eat in . You can do exactly as you please for them 48 hrs

BanginChoons · 23/09/2020 20:58

A decent coffee machine.

A cleaner!

frumpety · 23/09/2020 20:59

An OU course , something that has nothing to do with your job but that you are interested in.

Private tutor in a language you always wanted to learn.

DH would live in a sterile box if he could and I have to fight for everything I put on the walls.
Depending on how annoying DH has been through the pandemic, you could always hit The Range or Homesense and pebbledash the interior walls in random tat ?

Ratsindahouse · 23/09/2020 21:01

I would probably buy something from an upcoming auction on Bonhams. I subscribe to their mailing list but have never bought anything. There are a couple of jewellery auctions and a vintage handbag auction coming up!

SonjaMorgan · 23/09/2020 21:02

Expensive skincare or a very expensive meal out.

IsoscelesSandwich · 23/09/2020 21:14

A huge stack of books, some cashmere socks and a new perfume.

mrwalkensir · 23/09/2020 21:16

just part of the money - tkmaxx or similar for lovely fleecy throws (soft but can survive small children and washing) - will be lovely on the sofas etc in the autumn & winter months. Fairy lights etc in warm white.

MartiniDry · 23/09/2020 21:30

A piece of antique jewellery. I'd be very happy with a Georgian bezel set necklace, or perhaps a Suffragette ring of emeralds, seed pearls, and amethyst.

If not antique, maybe a high end vintage costume piece?

snappycamper · 23/09/2020 21:30

An Alex Monroe necklace
A beautiful fountain pen
Sonos speakers
Expensive perfume (for me that would be Mitsouko or Chanel)

I like quilting so I would buy a gorgeous quilt kit which would take me months to complete.

SummerInSun · 23/09/2020 21:32

If you want jewellery, try Georg Jensen. Yes, they sell lots of very expensive things such as their diamond rings, but they also do lots of beautiful silver pendants and earrings for the sort of budget you are talking about. And have a good website.

Pbbananabagel · 23/09/2020 21:36

I’d pay a cleaning service to do my house top to bottom, then get a projector and screen and throw a movie night with pizza and wine.
Alternatively I’d get a custom piece of jewellery made from one of my fave designers- there’s some amazing people on Etsy in particular.

carlywurky · 23/09/2020 21:52

In a similar position I bought a hanging egg chair for the garden and some gorgeous potted plants.

Dessicator · 23/09/2020 21:53

Even though you say nothing for your house. I bought some pure linen bedding as an indulgence. Best thing I've ever bought.

Oly4 · 23/09/2020 21:56

A night on my own in a posh hotel

Lleeaahh1992 · 23/09/2020 21:58

A bike, a ninja foodi, a new tattoo or an expensive beauty treatment that I wouldn't usually get, is what I'd go for.

abstractprojection · 23/09/2020 22:08

Tiffany does excellent studs. They feel like you’re wearing any and they don’t come off. I’ve got a gold pair of ‘smiles’ they just look like an interesting slightly abstract curved shape
