Help me spend some money!

I didn't really know which section to put this in but here goes.
I work a full time, stressful job. I've work all the way through lockdown and missed out on holidays. I do know lots of people are in the same boat. But I need a treat, I need to spend some money on myself as I'm getting burnt out and the thought of a second lockdown with schools closing and just the juggling of life is getting me down.
So what should a buy myself? I have a few hundred pounds to spend not on the kids but on ME! and I have no idea.
I work in a uniform and have loads of comfy clothes, I don't really go out and already have going out clothes, shoes etc.
I don't wear makeup or really do my hair and I've still got a coupon for a massage and pani/pedi that I haven't used from my birthday.
Not overly keen on smellies or candles so I'm stumped. HELP

I'd get my garden done, I'd love a patio and some nice pots and well planted borders. I have no idea about gardening and can't do it myself!

yelyah22 · 23/09/2020 19:58

Murray and Me does beautiful, simple jewellery!

If it were me I'd buy linen sheets and get my hair done. But my other suggestions are an expensive beauty thing (like a Dyson Airwrap or a Philips Lumea) that would make me feel good for a long time to come, or a subscription to something fun - knickers, craft box, sex toys - that would be a nice surprise every month.

Ohjustboreoff · 23/09/2020 19:59

I'm loving all the suggestions. I think there is going to be some serious wishful thinking going on tonight.
Already have a lovely doggo so no kittens. My hobbies are walking/hiking and gym but already have so many workout clothings and leggings plus a few pairs of walking boots.
We are having the garden sorted in October and having a patio put in, plus having the front sorted as we moved into our house 7 years ago and has 2 years of doing the inside but forgot the outside.
I'm starting to look at jewellery but diamond studs are a little out of my price range at the moment. Wishful thinking.

Good noise cancelling headphones - in fact I may have inspired myself Grin If you like to cook some fancy ingredients to try out, what about some nice Christmas decorations or table linen to enjoy using

Ohjustboreoff · 23/09/2020 20:00

@yelyah22 thanks I'll have a look at Murray and Me.

I'm eyeing up a 5inch deep Hungarian 100% goose down mattress topper. It's £200!

There are cheaper ones at £40 for duck feather, but thinking that may be a false economy.

I know spa days are cliched but I would Turkish hammams and would love a scrub down/massage in a hammam (if they're open).

Ohjustboreoff · 23/09/2020 20:01

@gassylady I've always wanted a beautiful Angel for the top of the tree that I could pass down. Busy googling now.

Quite right to spoil yourself @Ohjustboreoff

Couple of hundred will get you lovely personal things lots of great suggestions upthread.

A new hairstyle and colour (if that’s your thing)
Hair products
Cozy PJs
Night away with your bestie/OH
Warm winter boots, gloves & scarf Moreno wool socks
Professional picture of you & your family

LadyCatStark · 23/09/2020 20:12

A weighted blanket, all your stress will disappear once you’re under it and you’ll sleep better at night.

TheSmallAssassin · 23/09/2020 20:14

I second a pair of noise cancelling Bluetooth headphones, I treated myself to some Bose ones, they are so soft and comfy and I can walk around with them, or listen to music at my desk and disappear into my own little world. Other things that have given me pleasure in lockdown are a little painting of a much loved place and getting a cleaner! Even a few one off cleans would be a real treat.

HeronLanyon · 23/09/2020 20:18

Thanks for the thread op. I recently came into some money on the death of my mum. I had planned to splurge a bit on travel/holidays and all sorts of things now impossible or downright unpleasant to do. I keep thinking I and loved ones need a treat. I seem to have gone into very deep lockdown in spending but would like to do something fun/indulgent for everyone’s mental health. This thread is good for ideas.
Support all who may not be in a position to do similar. It’s all fing tough at the moment.

lastqueenofscotland · 23/09/2020 20:20

Some really nice alcohol
New bedding/towels

Personally I’d buy something running related or something horrifically expensive for my horse...

Ohjustboreoff · 23/09/2020 20:21

@HeronLanyon sorry for your loss but I'm glad something nice will come of it. Just thinking about treating myself is making me feel better.
Maybe a piece of jewellery to remember them by?

Have you got a smart watch /fitbit. I gifted myself one recently after being a bit meh about the idea of having one but I love it!

HeronLanyon · 23/09/2020 20:27

Op. Yes thinking (slight spending) cap on. It is a good thought after months of so little spending and no inessential shopping at all.

Ohjustboreoff · 23/09/2020 20:28

@Sassy306 yes I have a iwatch. When not in work I never wear a watch so not interested a dress watch. But I do love my watch.

If I had spending money for myself to spend on something frivolous, I’d get a really beautiful super expensive perfume and wear it every day to cheer myself up.

ididntmeanit · 23/09/2020 20:31

Perfume 🙂❤️

NataliaOsipova · 23/09/2020 20:33

I say jewellery as well. Something you can keep forever and remember when you treated yourself.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 23/09/2020 20:33

I'd get some nice things from here;

Venicelover · 23/09/2020 20:36

Day trip on the Northern Belle, very classy and decadent.

A second vote for Hebridean Jewellery - their stone settings are beautiful, their website doesn't do them justice!

Ilovelblue · 23/09/2020 20:37

A classic designer handbag
A garden ornament
A tree for the garden (depending how big your garden is, there are plenty of small trees available and they will give years of pleasure)
Reed diffuser (Jo Malone are the best. They might be expensive but they last for months).

SilenceOfThePrams · 23/09/2020 20:40

I have a house full of stuff, and I don’t need more. So if it were me, I’d look at a flower subscription box from bloom and wild or similar, fortnightly flowers through the letterbox. Something utterly frivolous that will cheer me up every time I see them. And I can play lady of the manor when I (badly) strange them. And I won’t have to share them with anyone else - well - everyone can look at them, but not like having to fight to keep my chocolates or bubble bath.

SmellsLikeFeet · 23/09/2020 20:41

Annie Haak do some lovely jewellery or a Tiffany bracelet?
