To ask if you would visit a spa for treatments right now??

My lovely boss at work kindly bought me a pretty pricey voucher to use at a London spa end of last year.
I had booked in for a day of treatments in March, then lockdown happened so it was cancelled/spa kindly said they'd extend voucher to last till end of 2020.
The spa has now reopened. They say they take limited customers in at any time, clean each room before and after treatments and therapist swear masks etc.
Would you book in for say a facial/massage right now?

Getting to London isn't an issue, I live in suburbs. Its just if visiting a spa / having a treatment which relies on such 1-1 direct contact all over your skin etc is too risky right now?

I would.

raspberryk · 23/09/2020 12:57

I have done, facial and massage.
Sadly the rest of the spa facilities weren't open.

Puppylucky · 23/09/2020 13:02

I would and have. The preparation and hygiene was meticulous and I felt very safe

BuggeredItUpAgain · 23/09/2020 13:05

I’m staying at a spa hotel this weekend, providing it’s still allowed to be open. I’ve been having beauty treatments at my local place since they were allowed to reopen and it’s all been carefully done with lots of precautions.

megletthesecond · 23/09/2020 13:05

No.

zippityzip · 23/09/2020 13:10

I would be all over that in a heart beat.

vanillandhoney · 23/09/2020 13:12

Yep, I would in a heartbeat.

GlottalStrop · 23/09/2020 13:12

My idea of hell, so no.

No judgement, I just don't like to be prodded and poked by randoms for extortionate prices.

Mydarlingsleepthief · 23/09/2020 13:13

Yes

PurpleDaisies · 23/09/2020 13:13

Definitely.

mollyminniemo · 23/09/2020 13:16

Wonderful- thanks for the encourgament- will defintiely book in! Am liking the sound of this "Experience Akasha’s luxury suite for one. Begin in its own marble
whirlpool bath with champagne and the finest seasonal fruit platter,
followed by a 60 minute Ultimate Aromatherapy Associates massage
or Aromatherapy Associates facial." After the chaos of lockdown living on top of one another for months- to have my own spa suite & bath just for moi with bubbly sounds divine!! Smile

Yep, I'd do it. I've had a facial and a wax in a salon recently and I had to wear a mask until the facial treatment started and the worker wore her mask the whole time (I assume - my eyes were closed). There was a lot of hand sanitiser available and the room was cleaned between clients. I would definitely take advantage of a voucher if I had one!

Tyersal · 23/09/2020 13:28

I did over summer but not sure I would now. Do they do nails as an option?

FraughtwithGin · 23/09/2020 13:32

Definitely, but I am not in the UK.

Greypurse · 23/09/2020 13:35

Sounds utter bliss! Enjoy!

Wakemeupwhenthisisover · 23/09/2020 13:35

I would and have.

SoddingWeddings · 23/09/2020 13:37

I've had a spa day, a couple of massages and nails done twice since spas and salons reopened. Go, enjoy!

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 23/09/2020 13:37

I’ve had a facial and eyebrow wax. They were v. careful with hygiene, the room was cleaned between each client and clients had to wait outside in the car park until it was time for our appointments. We had our temperatures checked when we went in.

nosswith · 23/09/2020 13:47

I would not in the UK. I would do so in some other countries.

lboogy · 23/09/2020 13:48

Yes I would

WeAreVeryAmused · 23/09/2020 13:52

I don't really understand the voting options in the context of this thread, but I would go to the spa myself. I am fairly low risk though, if I was older I might feel differently.

FinallyHere · 23/09/2020 14:27

The people saying 'they were very careful with hygiene' are surely missing the point of the risks associated with an airborne virus.

If you are not vulnerable, are not living with or associating with anyone vulnerable. If you do not have children mixing with other children at school. If you could live with catching them disease and associated loss of earnings, then yes, why not ?

It is just a risk assessment, with so many different factors.

PollyPelargonium52 · 23/09/2020 14:43

I think if they are using a thermometer that is an excellent sign. Very few places are in my experience so I would if they checked as a routine precaution.

Ladyformation · 23/09/2020 14:58

As @FinallyHere points out, it's a risk assessment. I'm not high risk, not spending time with anyone who is, don't have children, work from home and can isolate immediately if symptomatic with no negative impact (other than boredom!).

So yes I would, and have, and loved it. The hygiene was outstanding and I felt completely safe.

edwinbear · 23/09/2020 15:06

I'd walk over hot coals for "Akasha’s luxury suite for one". Sounds awesome and I'd go as quick as I can before the place has to close again.
