To take DS to the Zoo on day 13 of isolation?

DS's nursery closed from last Monday as they had a positive Covid case. Nursery reopens on Monday after 14 days. We have obviously kept DS at home since as per guidelines and he is on day 9 of isolation. Saturday will be day 13 and is also his 2nd Birthday. We had booked tickets for Chester Zoo and his older sibling was very excited to go. DS has been totally fine thought out and shown no symptoms, we are all fine too. Should we cancel the zoo trip or go ahead?

Exactly this. Thanks so so much to Covidiots like you, I hope you both stand on an upturned plug today.

Well the good news is that you can rebook and go once your isolation period is over .... the animals unfortunately will remain locked up still there for you to see. Permanently on lockdown!

And .... there are concerns that humans can pass on Covid to animals ....

It’s worrying that we are in this over 6 months and people still don’t understood what to do re isolation

Glad this thread has helped you realise that the quarantine counts from last contact not the day you were informed. Enjoy the zoo!

Re: incubation; 5-14 days is the average but there have been cases evidenced to have been up to 27 days. We work with the average because that’s what’s realistic to expect people to deal with.

I’m pretty skeptical about the UK’s incredibly short list of symptoms to test for and regardless of shortages would encourage testing for caution in the presence of symptoms but testing a completely healthy child in case they’re asymptomatic is at best pointless and at worst a waste. The tests are much more accurate used on people with symptoms and certainly not to be able to go to the zoo.

Stick to the rules.
Sick of people ‘wondering ‘ if they can bend them.
It’s 14 days as you well know. This stuff really isn’t rocket science to grasp
