To Want to Know What's So Special about Hot Tubs?

Pembsgirl · 22/09/2020 19:21

I own a beautiful holiday cottage in West Wales, and often see people on FB saying that they'd like to rent a romantic holiday cottage for two BUT it must have a hot tub!

Personally I can't see the appeal, so what is it that makes people want them that badly?

No idea. I don't want to share a bath with anyone. Yuk.

PilatesPeach · 22/09/2020 19:31

Sex ponds

Dozer · 22/09/2020 19:32

Smelly!

JeffreyJefferson · 22/09/2020 19:32

from a business point of view i think you should definitely get a hot tub for it. You would get a lot more people staying a lot of people want a hot tub when they go away

Sexnotgender · 22/09/2020 19:35

No idea, definitely not on my list of things I look for in a holiday home!

NeutralJanet · 22/09/2020 19:37

I would use one on holiday where someone else has to clean it and pay the electricity bill. Can't be arsed with having one of my own, my friend got one and the maintenance is a hassle.

BluebellsGreenbells · 22/09/2020 19:38

Lovely warm water of a freezing winters night sound like bliss! I’d defiantly pay more for a cottage with one installed.

Have a look on centre parcs and see the price difference

Whammyyammy · 22/09/2020 19:38

proper hot tub spas yes. Cheap and nasty inflatable ones no

SuzieCarmichael · 22/09/2020 19:39

Grubby sex ponds. Grim.

Biancadelrioisback · 22/09/2020 19:40

They feel nice.

OrigamiOwl · 22/09/2020 19:40

Proper (ie non-inflatable) hot-tubs are something I definitely look for. I like sitting in one while it's cool outside.

Scweltish · 22/09/2020 19:41

I love a hot tub in the winter. I adore being outside and wouldn’t see the point in having a U.K. holiday wheare I’d have to be inside all of the time. My children also love them. I hired one for 3 days during lockdown and they only came in to eat or sleep Grin wouldn’t get one myself though with all the faff

Fantasisa · 22/09/2020 19:41

They represent luxury and indulgence. They have to be a proper one and the place that I stay that uses one changes the water after each guest departs so it feels clean to me.

GreyishDays · 22/09/2020 19:43

We’ve stayed in two cottages with them recently, just as a bonus, without looking for them. We’ve really enjoyed them. First was in cold weather and it was lovely to sit in the warmth in the evening in a countryside setting. Just another thing to do on crap weather.
Last was in warm weather and the children were in it a few times a day. Also really lovely.

I hadn’t seen the point before. Maybe they need a view though.

FizzyPink · 22/09/2020 19:43

Oh I love to sit outside at night when it’s cold and leisurely drink a bottle of champagne while chilling in a hot tub. Extra points if it’s a wood burning one.

However, DP does not see the appeal at all and rather ruins it whenever we go somewhere with one by wanting to get out after a few minutes

ClinkyMonkey · 22/09/2020 19:44

People soup. Bleurgh!

Fantasisa · 22/09/2020 19:46

@GreyishDays - are you happy to share links to where you have stayed?

SimonJT · 22/09/2020 19:49

You can fart and no one knows.

I quite like them (and water in general), if I can I book somewhere that has one or a pool, or even better both, but thats rare for a UK break.

I like warm/hot water, I don’t know why, I guess its a bit like a hug. I would happily have a long hot bath everynight, if I had a hot tub I would probably be in it far too much. No garden and they’re noisy so I wouldn’t get one.

thepeopleversuswork · 22/09/2020 19:50

Naff as fuck and unhygienic.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 22/09/2020 19:52

Fab after a days skiing, with a glass of wine and snow gently sprinkling down.

Not quite so appealing in Welsh rain Grin

JustBumblingAlong · 22/09/2020 19:54

Tepid sex pond. Yuck. Hey friends, fancy coming over and having a bath together? No?

Pumpkinsarepurple · 22/09/2020 19:54

Rancid, germ invested ponds.

Why do people enjoy having a bath in the garden??

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/09/2020 19:57

I'd like one on holiday but it's not a 'must' at all.

I saw some second hand ones for sale at the weekend, advertised as 'pre loved' Envy < not envy!

Mellonsprite · 22/09/2020 20:02

I blame a hot tub for a nasty fungal toenail infection - never again!

felineflutter · 22/09/2020 20:03

Probably avoid a rental with one tbh. I don't mind them at large spas and leisure centres as I think they are maintained and have good cleaning regimes.
