We’re about an hour away from cheddar gorge and Not sure where to stop for lunch

I’ve got an energetic 2 year old who needs lunch but also maybe somewhere with a garden and grass?

A lot of places on trip advisor just have stone wall terraces

@LongPauseNoAnswer

Cheddar gorge was read wholly wrong by me who is not from the UK nor ever lived there. I had to read the OP three times before I realised that the cheddar gorge is a PLACE not an immensely enjoyable activity.

YABU

Well, not your fault LongPauseNoAnswer, we used to have these things called Proper Nouns, and you used them for names and it made everything clearer, which is the whole point of punctuation. Sad I mourn the loss of the proper noun. Nobody can be arsed these days.

And now I want some cheese too. Cornish Cove from M&S, strength 6 please.

passthemustard · 21/09/2020 15:31

I came for the cheese. #disappointed

MikeUniformMike · 21/09/2020 15:32

Cheddar Gorge is a place not an instruction.

MrsTerryPratchett · 21/09/2020 15:35

@MikeUniformMike

Cheddar Gorge is a place not an instruction.
Not in this house.
MikeUniformMike · 21/09/2020 15:42

@MrsTerryPratchett, edam you, you made me chuckle. I'll think caerphilly before I post again.

@sapnupuas

I was hoping this would be about the cheese.
Me too, I was expecting a cheese based emergency.
Toddlerteaplease · 21/09/2020 15:50

@fishonabicycle omg, their home made beans on toast is absolutely divine. Wish they sold them to takeaway!

TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 21/09/2020 15:50

I was coming here to recommend the extra mature, pre-sliced stuff in M&S if you needed a treat - the only downside is they don't put bits of paper between the slices, so it can be tricky to get the slices off whole.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 21/09/2020 19:53

Did @Willow4987 ever come back to the thread? Or is she still roaming the Gorge looking for a toddler lunch?

Willow4987 · 21/09/2020 20:46

@DobbyTheHouseElk no sorry we managed to find a nice pub with a lovely garden for him to roam around in

50shadesoflunacy · 21/09/2020 20:49

I was so looking forward to a thread about emergency cheese Confused

Willow4987 · 21/09/2020 20:52

@50shadesoflunacy well in a roundabout way it was. The toddler needed to run around at lunch and I need a ploughman’s! Grin

That’s good. Did you go to the Gorge? It’s pretty up there.

Londonmummy66 · 21/09/2020 21:07

CAn't beat a decent Welsh cheese IMO Caerphilly crumbled over leek and potato soup, Teifi with grapes and apples etc...

TylluanBach · 21/09/2020 21:10

I remember buying a Ferrero rocher milkshake from there once, many moons ago. Never managed to find another quite like it. Grin

Augustbreeze · 21/09/2020 21:11

Cheddar Gorge is closing and making 40 redundant... in the news today Confused

Augustbreeze · 21/09/2020 21:12

I mean the Caves, sorry.

Flatpackback · 21/09/2020 21:13

You're in the wrong place. Head for The Cheese Society, Lincoln, may take a few hours. Seriously, haven't you heard of Trip Advisor? You can search on "nearby".

elephantoverthehill · 21/09/2020 21:13

Did you go to Priddy? There's a nice pub for lunch there.

altiara · 21/09/2020 21:21

@Toddlerteaplease
What kind of advice does Cheddar give?
Is he in the running to be the next Judge Rinder or Judge Judy?

Toddlerteaplease · 21/09/2020 21:26

She has an opinion on everything. Can't comment about Judge Rinder, as she's never seen it!

AdoptedBumpkin · 21/09/2020 21:28

I'm disappointed this isn't about cheese Grin

userxx · 21/09/2020 21:34

@Toddlerteaplease He doesn't look impressed by the interruption. I'd back out of the room very slowly 😉

Toddlerteaplease · 21/09/2020 21:39

Nah, she loves any attention.
