What age did you take the sides off the cotbed to turn it into a toddler bed?

He was over 2 when we took the side off. Never tried to climb out but was fed up of hauling him in and out! It was a small cot, not a cotbed, so a bit narrower (rolled out once!) and he's now just gone into a single bed, but I think he'd have happily slept in the cot for a bit longer.

I think my DD was 1 and a half, nearly 2.. one morning she just walked into our room Haha. I'd never seen her try and get out and I asked her to show me how she did it, it was very impressive it was like mission impossible 😂 but that was the end of that and we took the sides of her cot bed that day :) we got her one of those side protectors to stop her from rolling out and it took her a few nights to get used to it, I think she felt a bit exposed compared to being safe in a cot but she got used to it :) shes 4 and still in that bed now without the side protector.

dc 1 - when I was pregnant with dc2, about aged 2
dc 2 when I was pregnant with dc3, about 2.5
dc3 when she climbe out, about 18 months

DD was about 2.5 but that was because we needed the cot for DS.

DS was just turned 3 and he was getting too big to lift. He never tried to get out of his cot, he loved it. He went straight to a normal bed with a rail, which he still has now aged 4. It took him almost a year of being in the new bed before he realised he could get out of it.

DD1 was 18 months as she could climb out, she went to a toddler bed. she's now nearly 4 and in a 'adult' single bed

DD2 is 18 months and not ready yet!

CantThinkOfAName92 · 21/09/2020 11:24

Ds about 18 months as he was jumping holding onto the side and gave me a heart attack nearly bouncing head first out.

Dd was 12 months as she hated the cotnand refused to sleep on it, she loved the cotbed!!! Rolled up blanket or pool noodle under her sheet kept her from rolling out.

(Both early walkers and climbers so we're fine getting in and out of low cotbed)

Mine went into a bed at 15 months.

Mine were at the older end when they started getting up in the night for a wee. They had continental size cots and we just took one side off and they were them until nearly 5 as they took up much less room!
