To ask (lightheartedly) what’s the most bizarre or confusing “because of Covid” you’ve heard?

My next door neighbour has had someone else walk her dog for her since lockdown “because of covid”. Never goes further than her garden. Such a shame because daily walks have never been banned and I’m sure the change of scene would benefit her and her dog would love her to take him!

Just wondered if anyone else has come across bizarre things being done or not done “because of covid?”.

Disclaimer - this is a light hearted thread just to help see the funny side a bit for my own sanity. It’s not meant to be dismissive of people’s genuine experiences or fears.

Our local area now has a 20mph speed limit because of Covid.

I would have thought it would have been better to drive faster so it can't catch you 🤣🤣

@tabulahrasa

I was thinking about this thread when I went to the shop, lol

Anyway... this is part of the new 20mph zone, the double width pavement doesn’t run the entire length but the bit on the right that’s about 2m does... you’ll also spot, the lack of pedestrians needing to social distance and the lack of traffic... this was about 5.45pm

I mean... I’m not sure it was necessary at all, nevermind specifically for Covid, lol

I just posted about this! I had missed your posts!

Clearly they wanted to do it and are using Covid as an excuse. And calling it 'temporary' Yeah right!

My mother. She's not doing birthday presents this year 'cos of covic' (sic).
This is the woman who is never out of the shops, even at the height of the 1st wave. Oh, and she managed to buy for my dad and brother as usual.
So she just means my birthday then.

I know this is MN and I shouldn't expect, but a 'what would you like' would have been nice. There's no money issue. Just her wankery.

@unmarkedbythat this is because more than one class would be using the changing rooms so it does actually make sense to go to school in PE clothes.
The PPs who've commented about NatWest I quite agree. They are positively draconian. Were very awkward about me going into the branch to transfer money ... for a house sale! No, I couldn't do it online as it would take me weeks to transfer the required amount due to a daily limit ... the mind boggles!

unmarkedbythat · 30/09/2020 18:04

Yes, but more than one class uses the classrooms and the corridors and the dinner hall etc

I think it makes sense because it cuts down on all the changing room shite, but am not convinced it's particularly relevant to covid!

@Funkypolar

M&S bakery: “we’ve stopped doing cinnamon swirl pastries because of Covid but you can have a pain au raisin instead.”
Really fancied an iced finger snd the only decent fresh ones around here are from Greggs, not selling them, have limited items due to Covid! Sell Yumyums, iced doughnuts etc, but not the only thing I like from them, iced fingers!

DD's school are not allowed any balls at breaktime 'because of covid' so they all play bulldog.
