To think most people only look on Air BnB for self catering couples mini breaks these days?

I have a holiday cottage business. It is my only income and I live in the same village as my cottage.

We have a new glamping property, built in our field (with planning permission).

I'm thinking of using Air BnB. It is for couples only, and mainly for short breaks. I get the impression that unless you are looking in a specific area/ have loyalty to a particular cottage company most people nowadays only look on Air BnB for this sort of thing?

I'm not talking about a week long family holiday, more a 3 or 4 night break.

What do you think? Thanks.

For glamping I would look at canopy and stars but probably not cool camping as I always thought it just had sites on it!

Airbnb reviews are completely untrustworthy. I have often looked there but never booked as there's always something that puts me off.

You don't have to use only one site though. Why not use two or three?

We often find that the same property is listed on a cottage site or two and on Airbnb. Often on the property's own little website too. Usually more expensive on the cottage sites, because of fees, less on Airbnb, least on own site - which of course you usually wouldn't find unless you'd already found that cottage on a bigger site.

its a multi billion dollar company, very unlikely every property would be a scam?!

Not all of them, but how do you know for sure which ones aren't? Once you've seen one that makes you feel uneasy, it's difficult to get rid of that feeling. Plus the fact that there's been a lot of talk about people who rent places threatening reviewers to leave a good review only, reviewers accounts being banned because they made a bad review etc. Somewhere that looks really nice and yet is the same price as a place that doesn't also suggests scam.

Unless you can guarantee to me which ones aren't a scam, I won't book there ever. Its not safe enough.

I would look on air b &b as well as booking.com and other sites. I have only had good experiences on air b&b but I research carefully and make sure I read and understand the cancellation policy as they can vary a lot!
