Think about what sort of person you are shaping for this world.

Under this leadership of lies the youth of today will learn that to survive they must shun the truth.

Public speaking and leadership skills are toxic if they lead to the likes of Rees Mogg, Johnson, Cummings and Gove etc

Power needs to removed from these poisonous public school places.

TeddyDahlia · 18/09/2020 17:57

You’re right OP. I would be nowhere in this world without the weekly Evil Classes I got at my public school.

unmarkedbythat · 18/09/2020 18:06

I think a few pp are confused as to what a public school is. All public schools are private schools; not all private schools are public schools.

Pringlemonster · 18/09/2020 18:06

My dh went to private school
He completely agrees with u op

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/09/2020 18:08

Hmm, I'm as far from public school circles as you can get, but here you go, a public school boy talking about truth

wigornian · 18/09/2020 18:14

C8H10N4O2

Kier Starmer, Blair, Tony Benn, Ed Balls, Clem Attlee, Harriet Harman to name just a few examples, also went to public schools

Starmer went to the local grammar which became private when he was in the 6th form. A number of MPs from both sides tagged as "private" were educated in the days of the 11+ and direct grant/grammars. St Pauls, Haberdashers, Latymer and others all fell into that category.

That’s true in some cases but, apart from Sir Kier this is not the care for those others I listed or, more recent examples cited by others, like Milne and Clegg who went to “full-fat” public schools.

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/09/2020 18:14

It's Keir not Kier. K E I R Arrgghhhhh

InkInTheBottle · 18/09/2020 18:15

Yeah, like I’m going to listen to some random pontificating on MN when making such a choice.

wigornian · 18/09/2020 18:17

Sorry WaxOnFeckOff Blush

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/09/2020 18:20

@wigornian

Sorry WaxOnFeckOff Blush
It's okay it's not personal but it's seems most of mnet misspells it and now I've noticed I can't unsee it. Is it the old I before E thing?
frogswimming · 18/09/2020 18:21

I went to prep school, private secondary school and a Russell group uni. I think this positions me nicely to know people from all kinds of schools. I have to admit a few toxic politicians went to my school, but also people well known in acting, writing and comedy. Mainly though, lots of doctors, nurses, dentists, teachers, physiotherapists, architects, social workers, solicitors etc. From my uni it's the same range, no toxic politicians though. The public school people at uni mostly went to work in the city.

wigornian · 18/09/2020 18:22

WaxOnFeckOff - must be! Should be Ceir!

VanCleefArpels · 18/09/2020 18:22

Way to apply stereotypes OP

According to your “logic” family background, living environment, religion, Race, economic factors have absolutely no impact on an individual’s character and personality. No, it’s all absorbed by osmosis from the walls on the quads of the identikit independent schools which all follow the same curriculum, have identical teaching staff, occupy the same hogwarts type buildings and alL cost £10k a term that Daddy pays for out of his bonus from the Merchant Bank.

Think about what sort of person you are shaping for this world.

Hopefully a confident, happy, curious, kind and bright person.....Isn't it wonderful that we can all make our own choices in these matters.

However the people you've mentioned deserve some painful and long drawn out punishment for their utter ineptitude and appalling lack of ability. I don't think we can blame their schools however, they'd be just as fucking crap if they went to the local comp.

justasking111 · 18/09/2020 18:25

Well this woman was not privately educated and is a huge embarrassment I cringed when I heard her. Wouldn`t have hurt her to have had a better education.

Pheobeasy · 18/09/2020 18:25

Yes everyone who goes to private school ends up like that, just as everyone who leaves a comp ends up achieving nothing

Doginabandana · 18/09/2020 18:26

This is a list of careers some of my DDs year group went on to do after they left their selective private school:
2 GPs
2 hospital doctors
SEN teacher
Maths teacher
Sports teacher
Optician
2 dentists
3 solicitors
Journalist
Teaching assistant
Clothing designer
Singer in own band

None of them are out of touch, arrogant prats who look down on anyone perceived to be less privileged. You can’t write off the whole of the private sector based on some of the ridiculous shower in Parliament.

iklboo · 18/09/2020 18:26

Ah. A Hand Grenade OP. Chuck an inflammatory opinion in, sit back and await the replies.

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/09/2020 18:27

I watched a program about Harrow and whilst the level of privilege and advantage took your breath away, I found the pupils in the show lovely and a lot less arrogant than a lot of the kids I went to school with at a rough city comp, and DSs went to school with at a very respectable comp.

MrsRusselBrand · 18/09/2020 18:28

The people you refer to are assholes , the reason for this is not that they went to a public school ! Public schools churn out many wonderful , well rounded , smart , contributing members of society . That's like judging non public schools on the behaviour of a few idiots

Didkdt · 18/09/2020 18:29

Op you're a bit daft a lot of posts on here deserve a like button though

WaxOnFeckOff · 18/09/2020 18:31

@wigornian

WaxOnFeckOff - must be! Should be Ceir!
Nope. :o

Scottish name is Keir and is completely different strand from the gaelic -Scots/Irish Gaelic which is Ciar.

Irish is Ciaran, anglicised to Kieran, which is where people get Kier I guess?

Ceir is Welsh? (or made up? :o )

Settleandcalm · 18/09/2020 18:33

I went to private school. My eldest DD has just gone to one.

WHERE IS MY GLOBAL ELITIST BADGE?!?! I want my money back, because they are doing a piss poor job of turning us into elitist proletariat hating arseholes Angry

DH and I both brought up in poverty, families etc voted Labour all our lives.

We could never have afforded private/public/boarding for our DC and technically it would be against our principles anyway.

However if someone had awarded them free places at top schools I would have snapped their hands off.

LesLavandes · 18/09/2020 18:37

Waxon. Mother at Harrow. I agree and thank you for your comment.

I don't like these threads because as, having personal experience, so many of these comments are rubbish.
