to think it's normal to find medical professionals attractive?

I have a couple of chronic health issues and see a a variety of doctors and nurses at hospital as well as visit my local practice for bloods etc.

Both my consultants are male, older than me and lovely. One is Indian the other is Scottish. They are both married as am I but when Isee them it is always very pleasant and I come away thinking how attractive they are. At my local practice I am often seen by a variety of young doctors male and female and they are all lovely and the young male doctors always seem very attractive to me.

I think it is the gentleness and care that is so nice and that it's only natural to find that appealing and as a straight woman I find the men attractive. I am not developing massive crushes on any of them or having fantasies about them but I do think they are lovely.

I think this is pretty normal and that people often find doctors and nurses of both genders attractive, am I being unreasonable?

@CaptainCabinets

Loool as a nurse I can confirm that there are some very handsome doctors around Grin
Where? DD had to spend 8 months in hospital and I swear I started thinking about batting for the other team so many munters around Grin.
TartanPyjamas · 18/09/2020 16:56

As a HCP I would also say when you work with them you think otherwise 😂

Anaesthetists are the best speciality, tend to be the nicest and most approachable and used to reassuring people who are frightened.

The Vets at my local practice on the other hand... swoon!

Ha!

I love vets. The last one I saw was GORGEOUS and handsome and half my age and South African and told my cat he was a lovely handsome boy. I went all silly and giggly and red somehow.

The6thQueen · 18/09/2020 17:02

I’m married to a nurse - I think he’s yummy, totally get it 😁😁

Bluntness100 · 18/09/2020 17:07

No i have never felt this ever, I did encounter a very attractive male doctor when I had my daughter, he was a big burly rugby player type, clsssicly attractive and floppy strawberry blonde hair.

All the women were horrified. No one, but no one wants a good looking bloke messing down there when you’ve just had a baby. We all decided jokingly it should be made illegal.

I wasn’t attracted to him as such, but could clearly see he was gorgeous, and I too was horrified when he walked down the corridor with the midwife and she announced “ back in your room blunt, doctor is going to give you a high vaginal swab”

I panicked, looked him square in rhe eye and said “ could you finish your rounds and come back I’d like to have a shower first”

Sadly he declined, can’t blame a girl for trying though..,😂

GoldfishParade · 18/09/2020 17:16

I find vets very rideable

malificent7 · 18/09/2020 17:57

Doing placement in hospital and lots of doctors are hot. I rekon there is a higher proportion of posh alpha males and/ or caring intelligent types. Plus stephoscopes!!Grin

winterisstillcoming · 18/09/2020 18:05

I think it's also because you are generally vulnerable and they are in a position of trust.

Yankathebear · 18/09/2020 18:11

Grin no, come to where I work. We will change your mind! We are a caring bunch of trolls.

WunWun · 18/09/2020 18:12

Your attractions certainly aren't unreasonable, but they're nothing like mine.

CanIHelpYou · 18/09/2020 18:17

I developed a bit of a crush on the doctor from the fetal medicine unit that I had to go to during my pregnancy. He carried out most of my procedures and was really reassuring and lovely.

He was quite a bit older and not my type at all but I think as others have said, it's about the help they give you. I'd been through hell trying to have a successful pregnancy and he helped me achieve that and so I think that just got caught up in my hormones and yeah... I did fancy him quite a bit 😂 I laughed about it with my best friend for quite a while.

CanIHelpYou · 18/09/2020 18:20

@FenellaVelour

I once had a gorgeous anaesthesiologist. Got all fluttery when he cane round to do the pre-surgery checks. Mortified when, on reading the surgical notes afterwards, I realised he’d inserted an anal suppository to manage pain/sickness during the process.
Oh god yes the anal suppositories. Cry. 😂🤦‍♀️
Zerrin13 · 18/09/2020 18:22

I've seen some bloody gorgeous hospital doctors. It certainly makes any period of confinement on an NHS ward a little more bearable.
My mum says the same and she is 82!
Alot of them seem to be quite trim and fit looking and its something about the stethoscope around the neck ......

AdultierAdult · 18/09/2020 18:25

Not really but I have a few doctors in friend circle and family and I don’t find them attractive either.

I feel more like that towards gardeners/carpenters etc because DH works in finance and is handsome and capable but not handy at all!

MissConductUS · 18/09/2020 18:33

And the few better looking ones were often raging narcissists. Especially if they were also surgeons. (But I would say that, being a retired anaesthetist...!)

Word.

What's the difference between a surgeon and God?

God doesn't think he's a surgeon. Grin

When I was younger and doing more front line nursing it wasn't unusual for a male patient to try it on with me. I think a couple actually fancied me too.

CorianderLord · 18/09/2020 19:08

I think it's a bunch of things - intelligent, well off, care giver

malificent7 · 18/09/2020 19:27

Dentists seem quite popular too but teeth are ick.

Krazynights34 · 18/09/2020 19:41

No!
I had two very attractive young doctor after I had my c-section with my second DD. They asked me how I was feeling and I just said “hot”. I was hot but I suddenly realised he might have thought I meant him. Thankfully he just said “that’s the anaesthetic” and left. But I was hotter by then!
Generally now, sadly, I have a terrible fear of male doctors as I was assaulted by one (that I had previously thought was wonderful, clever, caring but not attractive). I’ll never attend an appointment without a chaperone again

Batshitbeautycosmeticsltd · 18/09/2020 19:46

Where are all these hot hospital doctors? I swear, being caged up in there for months on end the women started to look more and more attractive to me!

MeridianB · 18/09/2020 20:09

I know what you mean and used to agree but having dated two surgeons I can say they were both great bonks but a million miles away from marriage material

Shiverywinterbottom · 18/09/2020 20:13

I had one hell of a crush on my consultant when I pregnant 😂
Towards the end I was seeing him 3 times a week, I don’t know if it was the hormones or what but everytime I saw him I just wanted to strip off and jump him on his desk or on the bed where he did my scans 😂😂

Humbersider · 18/09/2020 20:14

I used to think like you, OP.

Until I started working with doctors in a professional capacity.

I've never met such a bunch of whiny, petulant, chippy, childish twats in all my life. Yes - even the hot ones.
