I don't think I've been over the top but have I?

Basically a parent with a child with covid symptoms has kept one child off but not her youngest (in my son's year). No testing booked etc. But as we all know the mum jungle drums go off about these things. Another parent has spent over 6 hours today explaining to the school what is going on. Unfortunately this seemed to fall on deaf ears. The mother works in a salon so is around people all day. I contacted the salon and told them. She told her employer they had the test but it was negative. Blatant lie, generally I wouldn't care but I don't feel it's right to say oh yes my one child has symptoms but not get the test or self isolate. I'm fully prepared for the backlash from the mother's mafia but now they have to be tested. I just don't think you can go telling people someone potentially has it and do bugger all!

I do understand you flagging your concerns to the school ...because your DC attend that school, so I get it. But to contact her employer ....wow, sorry but it’s like you’ve been stalking the woman tbh. I do find that a bit weird.

Another parent has spent over 6 hours today explaining to the school what is going on

Were they attempting to explain it via interpretative dance? Confused

I can't think how else it would take more than six hours.

RedToothBrush · 15/09/2020 20:54

He said, she overheard, Dorothy around the corner got told, my cousin's dogs best friend heard.

None of this is healthy.

Its chinese bloody whispers.

There are limits to what can be done. If the school have been informed then it should be left at that, because they have other responsibilities and have a duty of care to all parties. They can only do so much.

You sound like a bit of a lunatic ringing her work.

enjoyingscience · 15/09/2020 21:01

Wow, the poor woman. She’s being harassed because of shitty rumours? I hope your mum gang are proud.

user165423256322 · 15/09/2020 21:01

Over six hours? So basically the entire school day?

Come off it.

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 15/09/2020 21:01

@Gobbycop

6 hours explaining.

Was she/he speaking aramaic or something?

Bahaha. :o
Serin · 15/09/2020 21:02

Jungle drums
Chinese whispers
Come on MN were are better than this.

Wolke · 15/09/2020 21:10

Thing is this is happening up and down the country. We had similar in the school where I work - child out with Covid symptoms, rest of the family seen at work. The problem is schools won't step in to police and parents can't afford not to go to work in many cases. I'm not sure what the solution is but this is the reason we won't be able to stop the spread.

FizzyGreenWater · 15/09/2020 21:18

SIX HOURS?

How?

AbbieFB · 15/09/2020 21:21

If (big if) the school gave out medical information about a child then this is the big concern. I suspect it's not true.

You are acting on gossip. You have no idea what the truth is and neither should you. I have given people false information about why my child was off school previously in order to protect their privacy about a medical matter.

Henrysfakebarns · 15/09/2020 21:38

Echo what everyone else has said - ringing someone's place of work is insanity and a massive invasion.

ShebaShimmyShake · 15/09/2020 21:40

Wait, what? You phoned her employer?

gamerchick · 15/09/2020 21:43

The covid marshall jobs are going for 3 grand a year OP.... Wink

gamerchick · 15/09/2020 21:44

*30 grand

PablosHoney · 15/09/2020 21:45

Woah 😂😂😂 you are something else!

TorkTorkBam · 15/09/2020 21:47

You have just guaranteed that next time somebody's child has a bit of a sore throat they will tell nobody.

PushyMeez · 15/09/2020 21:50

Who the hell are you to phone someone's work over such a thing. What a malicious, oddball thing to do.

TempestHayes · 15/09/2020 21:53

The child most likely has a sniffle, and people need to get a grip. The vast majority of children are asymptomatic, as are the vast majority of adults. If you develop serious symptoms, sure, go get a test - good luck. But children have sniffles.

TorkTorkBam · 15/09/2020 21:53

Did you personally witness the ill child's symptoms?

Did you personally hear the mum herself describe the ill child's symptoms?

cocopops · 15/09/2020 21:53

Wow. What a #covidbusybody you are. Get a life.

TempestHayes · 15/09/2020 21:54

@TorkTorkBam

You have just guaranteed that next time somebody's child has a bit of a sore throat they will tell nobody.
Plenty of people are already doing just that.

Why should one child's more-than-minor sore throat mean 250 kids have to lose 2 weeks education and 500 parents have to miss work? It's a joke.

HauntedPencil · 15/09/2020 21:56

You RANG her WORK!! 😱

VanillaSpiceCandle · 15/09/2020 22:01

You are completely overreacting. Also you should be ashamed of yourself for phoning her employer. You could cause this woman problems at work - all for a bit of gossip and drama.
