I don't think I've been over the top but have I?

Basically a parent with a child with covid symptoms has kept one child off but not her youngest (in my son's year). No testing booked etc. But as we all know the mum jungle drums go off about these things. Another parent has spent over 6 hours today explaining to the school what is going on. Unfortunately this seemed to fall on deaf ears. The mother works in a salon so is around people all day. I contacted the salon and told them. She told her employer they had the test but it was negative. Blatant lie, generally I wouldn't care but I don't feel it's right to say oh yes my one child has symptoms but not get the test or self isolate. I'm fully prepared for the backlash from the mother's mafia but now they have to be tested. I just don't think you can go telling people someone potentially has it and do bugger all!

6 hours explaining.

Was she/he speaking aramaic or something?

hotmessmom82 · 15/09/2020 20:03

This was due to various calls and callbacks from both schools.

How does anyone have time for all this

ChicCroissant · 15/09/2020 20:05

I hope this isn't true - you rang someone's employer on the basis of gossip?

KitchenBandAid · 15/09/2020 20:11

Covid-Stasi

hotmessmom82 · 15/09/2020 20:13

In no way am I saying I was in the right. If my child/children show symptoms I have no choice to keep them off and get tested. And yes it would be a struggle financially having two weeks off work.

You went too far. You rang school and spoke about it for 6 hours and then called her boss? You're over invested and too much.

Mooballs · 15/09/2020 20:18

You seem unhinged.

Pinkflipflop85 · 15/09/2020 20:20

Is this all part of some weird training process to become a covid Marshall?

Sanitisethat · 15/09/2020 20:20

Sounds like you contacted her employer on the basis of a load of second hand gossip so yes, very OTT and inappropriate.

hotmessmom82 · 15/09/2020 20:22

Again it was another parent speaking to the school's. And as I have said I probably have gone over the top but I don't understand why you would keep one child off with symptoms (and tell many people they have symptoms) but then still send another child to school and still go to a job where you are constantly on contact with people and not get tested.

I'd be most concerned with one school giving out personal information, which is then passed from one mum to the next before being relayed to another school.

Iammariedtojacksparrow · 15/09/2020 20:27

Maybe the child wasn't living in the household at the time?
Maybe as soon as they started to show symptoms they shoved him in the cupboard under the stairs and feed bread and water under the door.
Maybe their house is so big, they each have a wing with their own butler and maid and he is self isolating with them

ooooohhhh

Maybe you should report her to the police, the government and the local council, possibly Environmental health sarcasm

ambereeree · 15/09/2020 20:30

I'm honestly baffled how you thought up to do any of this.

emptyplinth · 15/09/2020 20:32

You sound like an absolute bloody menace. Ringing someone's employer and wasting the school's time when you're scarcely in possession of the facts. Confused
Hope this is made up.

Bleepbloopblarp · 15/09/2020 20:37

Wow, I thought my dd’s WhatsApp group (or “mommy mafia”) was bad.

But ringing up someone’s place of employment to grass them up that what? Their kid has a cold?

That’s another level of batshit crazy!

Honestly, if you act like this every time someone in your kids school has a cough you’re going to drive yourself insane - you need to stop and get some rationale here.

hotmessmom82 · 15/09/2020 20:39

I'm really surprised that so many people think it ok to send children to school when there have been covid symptoms at home. Again I've said I probably did go too far but I've tried my hardest to keep my children safe but it's impossible when people choose not to self isolate.

Well done Covid Marshall, you're hired.

Branleuse · 15/09/2020 20:39

gossip

Wakemeupwhenthisisover · 15/09/2020 20:43

You are massively OTT. All your “evidence” is based on hearsay.

What 'covid symptoms' does the child have? Every single one of my sons friends has a cough at the moment, following a cold they all shared last week. Technically a covid symptom but we all need to be a bit cautious of assuming covid for everything.
LemonTT · 15/09/2020 20:43

Ffs

Someone can be ill with a Covid symptom, get tested, get a negative and still be off because they are ill with something else. All over the course of 24 hours.

I assume this is a wind up or reverse

KrisAkabusi · 15/09/2020 20:44

You have gone too far. You have zero facts. What you have is second-hand information and gossip. And you're ringing her boss for this? Unhinged.
