Nursery tomorrow. DD Cough

DD has been back at nursery one week.. I was on furlough from April to September.. Just returned last week. She's had a runny nose the past couple of days, but was OK to go in as had no temperature.. She's now coughing.. But again no temperature, seems well in herself. Should I keep her off or send her in? Don't think my employer will be too pleased if I can't work tomorrow 😭😭😭

If mothers had superpowers which could tell when a cold was a cold or a cold was Covid, we wouldn’t need test and trace! And you still don’t seem to understand it’s ONE symptom, not two, that triggers the need for a test. If she had EITHER a temperature OR a cough, you should have kept her off and got her tested. But carry on insisting your interpretation is correct....

@Puppy72

I have no concerns about the nursery. They took her temperature at the door, my daughter is full of snot and is otherwise completely fine. It is not a continuous cough. It started last night on and off by the time I got her ready and on our way to nursery it stopped. They mentioned if she had a temperature she wouldn't have been able to come in. So far I've no call to tell me to pick her up. I think I've been a mother long enough to know when a cold is a cold..If she had a temperature and a continuous cough I'd have kept her home
Ahhhh we no longer need covid testing, we can all just come to you and you'll be able to simply tell if it's covid or a normal cold 🤦🏻‍♀️

Totally reasonable. I'm not surprised nursery were fine with it too given that it wasn't a cough that fits the description of continuous. I'd have done the same.

We drove a 4-hour round trip for a test because my DC had a cough, along with a mild cold. Thankfully the results came back quickly.

It’s hard, it really is, but the rules are any of the three main symptoms and you can get a test - cough, temperature and change in taste/smell.

@DappledThings thank you. That's what I thought, it wasn't a persistent cough. Obviously if I needed to drive four hours for a test I would of course do that. I do get it, the potential risk.. But she's been perfectly fine and no mention of her cough today on pick up.
