Were buying a place snd the master has an en suite, i just think that it shouldnt be used for poo's well at bedtime anyway, as otherwise massive mood killer... AIBU? Thoughts?

There is a family bathroom and downstairs WC btw. So plenty of options lol

Don't get the love for en-suites to be honest, for this and other reasons.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 10/09/2020 22:46

Do you never go for a wee and then think ‘oh actually whilst I’m here’... or is that just me?

Nope deffo not you! I do that sometimes too ha!

If i had an ensuite i would poo in it! Just leave bathroom window open and shut the door leading from bathroom to bedroom if it bothers you that much!

How bizarre not being able to use your own toilet. Can we all take a minute to appreciate how blessed we are to live in this day and age where we have plumbing?!

GlummyMcGlummerson · 10/09/2020 22:48

MN never fails to amuse me with all the random toilet issues Grin

I feel like I'm the only person who uses a toilet by sitting on the seat instead of hovering, has a poo when I need one, in whatever toilet I see fit, and let guests use the toilet too, even for poo's! 💩

autumnboys · 10/09/2020 22:49

I have trained my husband to poo in the main bathroom if I am in bed. It’s not the smell (I am permanently anosmic) it’s the sound effects.

FlamingoAndJohn · 10/09/2020 22:49

In our last house the only bathroom was off the bedroom. I had no option but to deal with it really.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 10/09/2020 22:49

@hulahooper2

Are you being serious , It’s a normal bodily function , it will have a door , a window and an extractor
Close the door, light a candle, or spray air freshener.

I think it’s just you and me.

There was a poster once who said she hovered at home as it was quicker.

🤣🤣🤣
I remember a poster once saying that she was "traumatised" from the smelly poo her builder did in the downstairs toilet to the point she couldn't even use that toilet 2 days later because it "brought it all back" 😂😂

Stinkyguineapig · 10/09/2020 22:52

I've seen this before on MN. The only rule we have for our ensuite is no weeing on the seat (for the benefit of DS who feels obliged to do his first wee of the day in our ensuite) For everything else we shut the door, and open the window if required.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 10/09/2020 22:53

I even poo at work and in other people's houses and I'm not even anxious about if it smells. Rock and Roll 🤘🏻

LittleRen · 10/09/2020 22:53

This is so weird. I can’t imagine ever banning poos from our en suite...

pregnantprayingmantis · 10/09/2020 22:53

Ours gets used by the kid for number 2's. They have the choice of two other bathrooms but I think the seclusion/cleanliness of our en-suite makes it preferable. This really winds me up.

minipie · 10/09/2020 22:53

We have an en suite, the loo is used like any other loo. It has a window and extractor and a door.

Ginger1982 · 10/09/2020 22:56

Shut the door and then spray air freshener. It's not hard. I'd be pissed off at someone dictating where I could poo in my own home 🙄

Ikeameatballs · 10/09/2020 22:58

I poo in the en-suite pretty much every morning whilst dp lies in bed. It doesn’t put him off a morning quickie!

Seriously, if I didn’t poo there my choices would be: dd’s en-suite, ds has the family bathroom that he shares with adult dss when he stays and there is a downstairs loo. Now this isn’t meant to be a stealth brag, I recognise that’s a good number of toilets in one house, but why would any other one be more acceptable for me to do a poo in than my en-suite?

ELM8 · 10/09/2020 23:00

Fair game unless the other person is in bed.. might just be our en suite but you can hear everything

Chloemol · 10/09/2020 23:01

Thank God dont have an en-suite

Toilets are for using,

shreddednips · 10/09/2020 23:01

He may not be planning his poos. Almost all my poos are surprise poos. I rarely get prior notice.

Girlzroolz · 10/09/2020 23:02

100% ‘no poos in en-suite loos’ here.

The whole point of multiple bathrooms is to choose the one that causes least inconvenience for everyone living there. Noise, smells, etc. Not just an amenity of brief convenience to the nearest person with a full bowel.

Who wants whiffs coming at them throughout the night? Even their own whiffs?

Even an outhouse makes more sense than that!

ilovepixie · 10/09/2020 23:04

We usually shite in the en suite rather than the main bathroom as it has an opening window and the main bathroom doesn't.

Giespeace · 10/09/2020 23:06

Who is the house builder that builds all these amazing en suites which are magically sound and smell proof? I’d love to know.

Redyoyo · 10/09/2020 23:06

Our ensuite is quite big and through a walk in wardrobe area so you can do whatever you like in there. DH only goes there for No 2s as its the furthest away from living areas. The kids often use that too for the privacy aspect.
Our only rule is pee only in the downstairs loo.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 10/09/2020 23:07

*Who wants whiffs coming at them throughout the night? Even their own whiffs?

They wont if you open bathroom window & keep door shut.

And btw, in the olden days people had chamber pots for through the night. Much safer than risking breaking your neck getting to the outhouse in the pitch black.

Yep they would POO IN A POT AND PUT IT UNDER THEIR BED!!!

ChiaraRimini · 10/09/2020 23:07

I think the simplest answer is divorce, then you never have to run the risk of smelling someone else's poo. Don't have any kids either for same reason.

UserFriendly14 · 10/09/2020 23:08

See if anything I have no downstairs WC poo rule. This is used by guests (OK perhaps not at the moment) and CBA to be cleaning it after every DH visit, which often tends to back it up.

Again if anything, it’s nice to take oneself off upstairs for a bit of peace and quiet.
