Bibbed. Grew up East London / Essex. Now in Hertfordshire.

Bibbed!

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 10/09/2020 21:19

A friend of mine had a guest who spoke English as a second language, who, when telling a tale of being cut up while driving said “I horned him, and I horned him good”.

So obviously it’s horned.

Quaagars · 10/09/2020 21:19

Beep is something Roadrunner says.
Bib is what you do to the horn lol

Catlover77 · 10/09/2020 21:22

Beeped!

Clumsyvolcano · 10/09/2020 21:23

I say bib, it’s a very swift press. Beep makes me think beeeeeep! (Long, drawn out press) bib is just a very quick bib! 🤣🤣🤣 hope that makes sense. It makes complete sense to me if I imagine the sounds in my head.

Megan2018 · 10/09/2020 21:24

Bibbed is used where I am from to denote a gentle beep. It differs from Beeping. Everyone knows the difference between a Bib and Beep. You Bib outside a house for example when picking someone up, you wouldn’t Beep.

But you’d definitely Beep and use all the swears when some Cockwomble cuts you up. Obvs.

CherryPavlova · 10/09/2020 21:25

Never heard the word bibbed - unless referring to an infant having their clothes protected.

You sound your horn - or honk it at worst.

HelplessProcrastinator · 10/09/2020 21:26

YANBU. The horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep all day long.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 10/09/2020 21:26

@WiseUpJanetWeiss

Im laughing out loud at that!!!! Reminds me of the time my friend who worked in MH was in a training session, and they were asked what they would do if patient was hiding under table and wouldnt come out... and one of her colleagues said "I would get under the table, and i would caress them!"

Bless him, he obviously meant comfort &/or hug.. didnt half tickle me....

RedRec · 10/09/2020 21:26

It's actually boop boop. Please look at the video 'fucking boop boop'. Best thing on the internet ever (and I don't know how to attach it).

Theimpossiblegirl · 10/09/2020 21:27

@Jayaywhynot

No need to BEEP your horn, if you've got time to BEEP you've got time to take evasive action. I always say this to my OH, drives him crackers Smile
You're right, but then I beep to show my disapproval. Or how will they know? Wink
Idontlikeyoghurt · 10/09/2020 21:28

Beeped the horn. Never bibbed!
Must be regional. I'm from the Midlands and never heard of bipped/bibbed

RaraRachael · 10/09/2020 21:29

Never heard of bibbed. We always say peeped the horn

MintyMabel · 10/09/2020 21:32

It’s tooted.

Northernsoullover · 10/09/2020 21:32

You toot it! Tootle it with vigour.

MintyMabel · 10/09/2020 21:33

if you've got time to BEEP you've got time to take evasive action.

A capable driver can do both at the same time.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 10/09/2020 21:34

@Pobblebonk

"YANBU. A bib is a little piece of cloth. There is no verb "to bib".
Bookmark"

Want to have a bet on that?

CandyLeBonBon · 10/09/2020 21:35

You say 'bibbed' (ie out loud in a conversation) be you write 'beeped'

CandyLeBonBon · 10/09/2020 21:36

Or 'bipped'. But only ever in verbal conversations. Never written.
The horrors! ShockWink

CoronaBollox · 10/09/2020 21:38

Bib bib coming through, excuse me thank you. You just got bibbed.

Deadringer · 10/09/2020 21:39

i either bip or honk, depending on the transgression. Never bib or beep.

ThePlantsitter · 10/09/2020 21:41

It's different types of pressing. Beep is ordinary 'oy' sounding the horn, 'bip' is a short 'here I am!'

Also the past tense of beep should be bept. Like sleep.

Smallsteps88 · 10/09/2020 21:42

YA very much NBU

Yeahbutnobutyeah1 · 10/09/2020 21:42

My DH says it’s papped?!

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/09/2020 21:43

Toot!
