Just that really. Had a drive through test on Tuesday 4.30pm, now been 52 hours. I rang the helpline and after an hours wait she said keep waiting. Couldn't confirm whether the test had been received by the lab or not.
Has anyone else's test taken longer and not been lost?
Sorry, posting in AIBU as i know it gets more traffic thank health.

Yes, my dh and I had a test at the end of June that took 17 days for the results (I'm really hoping we were just very unlucky!)

LolaSmiles · 10/09/2020 20:18

It's not the most reliable source, but I've seen people I know on Facebook saying they've been waiting 3-5 days.

Firsttimemumofone · 10/09/2020 20:20

I'm not sure where abouts you are - but I am aware that in a number of areas (where schools have gone back etc) more and more people are being sent for tests so there is a bit of a backlog now.
My friend was sent for one on Wednesday in the Coventry area and was told it was more likely 72 hrs.
It is an absolute pain but fingers crossed you're all ok

Coldilox · 10/09/2020 20:22

A colleague waited 2 weeks as his test went missing.

Wife and I have had 6 tests between us (2 due to symptoms and 4 due to being asked by the ZOE app). Results have taken between 15 hours and 5 days

Mumtotwofurbabies · 10/09/2020 20:22

Someone in our family had to isolate due to being close contact to someone with Covid (at nursery) the person had the test on a Thursday, results following Tuesday 😱😱. We were told to ‘retrospectively isolate’ this child from the day of the test 🤷‍♀️This was very recently.

LtJudyHopps · 10/09/2020 20:24

My mum never got the results from her first test. Luckily it was one the hospital asked her to have as she goes every couple of weeks for blood tests, not because she had symptoms!

Schoolsout2 · 10/09/2020 20:26

Following. I am posting my DS swob off again tomorrow. I’m hoping I get a result quickly.

Justcheckingimnotmad · 10/09/2020 20:28

Yeah, we waited 58 hours and got the results last night.

Dogsanddrums · 10/09/2020 20:30

One of my team waited 7 days, was told it was her fault for not registering (she had registered) and then ultimately told it had probably been lost and to do another test. The closest was 6 days and 1.5 hours away.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 10/09/2020 20:33

I thought there was a short time frame in which the tests actually work, so once you've waited a certain number of days for the result it's then too late to retest - I could be wrong though?

vodkaredbullgirl · 10/09/2020 20:34

Last week a Wednesday i had a test, got the results back this Monday. Work do our tests and they get collected at the end of the day.

ramesesmaze · 10/09/2020 20:36

Thanks everyone, makes me feel hopeful it hasn't got lost. I'm feeling really anxious as we are all off work and school! Im sure I'm not the only one, this is going to be the new normal Sad

Yes, think they're struggling at the moment- had a test last Monday and didn't get the result until Monday just gone.

ramesesmaze · 10/09/2020 20:39

@BewareTheBeardedDragon yes that right, you can only test day 1 - day4 of having symptoms.

Hi, I registered the tests online on Wednesday morning and done the tests and put them in the postbox on Wednesday at 4pm, Should i have got an email saying they were registered or just an email when I get the results ?

Hellishcrusade · 10/09/2020 20:43

I'm tested weekly so I don't know if it's different for the drive thru or post tests but mine comes either in the evening of the 2nd day after collection or the morning of the 3rd day. So 48-72h. It took longer once and was quicker in the early days.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 10/09/2020 20:49

My first (and positive) test took 5 days, but I was ill in bed so knew and was isolating.
Now I'm tested weekly at work and they take about 2 days or so, negative every time now.

RoseGoldEagle · 10/09/2020 20:59

Mine took about 56 hours earlier this week. First one I had done about 6 weeks ago took 12 hours, think there’s just so much more demand now. Hope yours comes back soon

MintChocChips · 10/09/2020 21:00

I had a test on Monday afternoon and just got the results this evening. I thought I was just unlucky as others seem to be reporting results back around 24hrs.

SocraticJunkieWannabe · 10/09/2020 21:20

My home test was posted on a Thursday evening and didn't get results til Tuesday morning, so 4/5 days. However I phoned the helpline on the Monday I think and was reassured it had been received/registered but just had to wait.

vodkaredbullgirl · 10/09/2020 21:26

The more people are getting test, it seems to be taking longer to get the results.

MomToTwoBabas · 10/09/2020 21:31

Yes waited 4 days for a negative result

Sleepforever · 10/09/2020 21:42

75 hours for a result 2 weeks ago

Yubaba · 10/09/2020 21:48

I waited 4 days 2 weeks ago, I needed a negative result to go back to work so I had another test and got those results back the same day 🤷‍♀️
The missing results turned up the next day, both negative.

ramesesmaze · 11/09/2020 09:00

All good, arrived at 6 am and negative
