Looks like we will not get any up to date information on schools with Covid cases.
Could you please post the name and location of local schools you are aware which have got Covid cases.

OP posts:
Findahouse21 · 07/09/2020 14:44

Why do you want the information?

Pesimistic · 07/09/2020 14:44

Haverhill (suffolk) samuel ward 5 teachers waiting on 2 other staff results.

Mama090319 · 07/09/2020 14:45

They’re fairly easy to find on social media... this was posted by us earlier. Why do you need all areas?

Names and location of school with Covid cases
movingonup20 · 07/09/2020 14:46

They are reporting on the bbc

Howslifenow · 07/09/2020 14:46

So that we can be up to date on local Covid data for schools.

OP posts:
jomaIone · 07/09/2020 14:47

Local to whom exactly? Those that need to know, are being told surely.

Howslifenow · 07/09/2020 14:48

This is a powerful social media platform. Instead of trawling through different sites, people can refer to this post for any cases in school for their area.

HandfulofDust · 07/09/2020 14:49

I'm not sure it's particularly helpful. General trends are reported in the news and the school your children attend will let you know if there are cases. I do think there's a tendancy to spread rumours and half truths and make people stressed and unkind to each other by relying on social media to get this kind of info.

fallfallfall · 07/09/2020 14:50

Surely people have a right to some medical privacy. What if the school is tiny?

mogloveseggs · 07/09/2020 14:50

Why would you be trawling through looking for it?
If your kids bubble is affected you would be rung straight away.

unimaginativeusernamehere · 07/09/2020 14:51

If you live in the area local to the school or have children affected then you'll know.

PaquitaVariation · 07/09/2020 14:52

There’s no need at all. If your school is affected you will know.

PurpleDaisies · 07/09/2020 14:52

How does this actually affect you?

unimaginativeusernamehere · 07/09/2020 14:53

I think there are over 30k schools in the uk. I'd only be interested in knowing about 2 of them and I'd find out through local social media or from the schools themselves. I don't think 1 thread on Mumsnet would be helpful to anyone

NannyPhlegm · 07/09/2020 14:53

It seems illogical to put local information on a global chat forum. I fail to see how it is of any help whatsoever.

If the school your child goes to is affected, you will know via the school. Period.
Eliminates the spread of false information and speculation at a stroke.

starrynight19 · 07/09/2020 14:55

You can get a full breakdown on the Brtus page.
Also on toryfibs on Twitter. Last count it was 187 I think.

greengreengrass14 · 07/09/2020 14:57

Yes I'm kind of with previous posters. Surely the priority in the first instance is to inform parents/carers as to what has happened and what to do.

KIds and families can do without extra comments in the first instance. Maybe if he local media picks it up then fine.

Ugzbugz · 07/09/2020 14:57

If every mumsnetter adds schools going forward there could be 1000s of schools on here, I only need to know about 1, I dont need to worry if one 400 miles away has a case ans closes and who's first thought will be let's check mumsnet.

And yes there are over 32k schools in the country

YewHedge · 07/09/2020 15:02

There are currently 62 schools affected with numbers likely to quickly increase. I think it might be a difficult thread to keep on top on.

TheOrigBrave · 07/09/2020 15:09

Will you keep a spreadsheet OP?
How will you know if more than one poster write about the same school?
You don't have to trawl through loads of sites, you can just read your local news.

Evilwasps · 07/09/2020 15:12

I really think you shouldn't be starting this, it'll turn into a witch hunt for the affected families. At least that's what happened when a school local to us (Scotland) had a positive case and it was all over social media. People were demanding the poor child's name! Shock
You'll be informed if you need to know, and in the mean time take the necessary precautions to help stop you becoming infected and prevent any spread if the virus.

DracoDormiens · 07/09/2020 15:14

That’s ridiculous

Glittertwins · 07/09/2020 15:14

Ridiculous idea - I'll be blunt and ask what exactly do you want out of this? I am capable of reading my own schools' comms thanks.

Chloemol · 07/09/2020 15:15

So basically instead of looking on forums local to them, and let’s not forget those that need to know will be told by respective schools they now have to wade through 40 odd pages of postings? And what happens if it goes to three four or a hundred new posts on this subject as the posts get filled up?

jomaIone · 07/09/2020 15:15

Do you really think this is where anyone will come, trawling through what could be 100s of pages of irrelevant stuff to find info they could easily find locally via their school info source. Absolute nonsense, witch hunting and scaremongering. Get a life.
