To insist that DH repairs the damage/mess first?

A few weeks ago DH bought a celeriac supposedly for a recipe he never ended up doing. The celeriac ultimately moulded in the cupboard so much that it dripped onto the crisps on the lower shelf. It stinks. I asked him to clean it out so he took it outside, stamped on it and then put it in the bin. It splattered all over the new paving stones that we’re laying. DH wants to carry on laying the pavers today but surely the mess needs clearing up first?? It stinks and he’s saying the rain will wash it away?? It’s nearly into cold wet weather and we need these pavers down so could without this right now.

Did he clean up the mess in the cupboard? That would annoy me more than the outside one.
