Sorry to hijack AIBU but I need traffic! DD is 18 on Monday and I'd assumed a large chocolate cake would do. She said this morning she'd really like a Victoria Sponge instead!

I DO NOT bake, it's obviously too late to get one made for me, so does anyone know where I can buy a really nice large Victoria Sponge in a shop???? I will decorate but can't bake one.

Please let me know if you have any bright ideas and I'll save you a piece Cake Smile Many many thanks

OP - any chance you’re local to Wimbledon?

Whip up a cake in an hour? It would take me that long to get the ingredients together Grin

Think someone has already mentioned it but sponge.co.uk do good cakes, have used them for a large personalised birthday cake and a couple of cake cards before.
If they cant deliver in time then try Facebook for local bakers or look for smaller independent cafes.

Sponge are brilliant and when they say their cake is large, they mean it!

honeygirlz · 04/09/2020 20:57

Get a Japanese jiggly sponge cake

Garden centre early in the morning! Do you have dobbies where you are?

Clevs · 04/09/2020 21:01

Speak nicely to a local deli or coffee shop that sells them and they may sell you a whole one.

Neversayn1 · 04/09/2020 21:02

M&S do a small one or maybe you can order the bigger version online. It’s one of the nicest VS I’ve ever had.

Clevs · 04/09/2020 21:02

Or ask on Facebook for local cake maker recommendations and see if any of them can squeeze you in.

RudeAF · 04/09/2020 21:08

Where are you? Euporium bakeries sell them.

My wedding cake was from there, just plain, that we decorated. 3 tiers for £60.

Deffo Costco, they’re massive!

Tolleshunt · 05/09/2020 02:00

@tactum

How did the birthday go and most importantly of all did you find the perfect Victoria sponge?!
