id like to think that when i come on here for a quick chat im talking to other women. ive noticed some men on here and thats actually putting me off. some of the topics we talk about are very intimate. i cant understand why men would want to come on this website, maybe the name should be changed to parentnet. aibu.

EEEK!

littlelapintofbloodmwahaha · 06/10/2007 13:33

My husband is interested in my health - sexual or otherwise

vacua · 06/10/2007 13:34

Refraining from detailed discussions with your partner about your menstrual flow is one thing, feeling uneasy about the possibility of other men reading posts on a PUBLIC discussion forum is a whole nother thing

Ok so I haven't lived with a man for ages but surely they notice when you're having a period and when you're not?

2hot2cook · 06/10/2007 13:38

well maybe thats my point. if i cant discuss these issues with dh id like to be able to come on MUMSnet and feel able to chat.

You are able to chat!!

littlelapintofbloodmwahaha · 06/10/2007 13:39

There are, what, 20 men on here? and HUNDREDS of women. You are being utterly, completely and thoroughly unreasonable. Plenty of posters enjoy talk to the men on here, because they are interesting PEOPLE.

vacua · 06/10/2007 13:40

most men will not be interested in that sort of thing as others have pointed out, my stomach turns when I see 'brown discharge' or similar in active threads and I'm a mum of 3! try not to worry, and even if they do read it - so what? they don't know who you are

StormieOMartian · 06/10/2007 13:40

Well, bluntly, it's tough tit then isn't it! We prefer to have the men thanks.

StrawberryMartini · 06/10/2007 13:40

DH asks me frequently about my cervical mucus. Nice.

zippitippitoes · 06/10/2007 13:41

sorry i think you are odd

men are lovely we need more of them...then may i could find my dh on here lol

SSSandy2 · 06/10/2007 13:41

really haven't noticed many men on MN and they are probably not reading all the threads. Don't think you need worry about it too much. It's all quite anonymous, just be careful not to give too much personal information/details about your life maybe (should follow my own advice here!) and then really it doesn't matter if every male truck driver and plumber and football coach in the country reads your posts, they won't know who you are.

zippitippitoes · 06/10/2007 13:41

maybe

MascaraOHara · 06/10/2007 13:42

YABVU

nuts.

bubblagirl · 06/10/2007 13:42

i think dads should be allowed on as they are always feeling neglected as women give birth to dc many women do most of the care and yet dads need to taqlk to to other parents and you have some dads that are mums and dads to dc so why sjhouldn't they talk to others and give and get support

StormieOMartian · 06/10/2007 13:43

You are able to chat.

The fact that you do not FEEL able to chat is your problem.

The fact that you are trying to make us responsible for YOUR FEELINGS is more indicative of your own attitudes than the unsuitability of men for this forum.

Your feelings are your responsibility. Perhaps you would feel more comfortable if I refrained from using the word 'TITS'? Or referred to my vulva as my FROUFROU? Tough, I'm not gonna do that either. But you always have the choice of whether to stick around and read!

Lulumama · 06/10/2007 13:44

you can talk on here, no-one lies in bed at night, making mental notes of who said waht on mumsnet about their period or cervical mucus

no-one!

you are making a big deal out of this

nappyaddict · 06/10/2007 13:44

yes

Lulumama · 06/10/2007 13:44

tis a foo foo, stormie!

LoRayningNewtsAndFrogs · 06/10/2007 13:44

Yes, what stormie said, rather more 'eloquently' than my 'you are able.

zippitippitoes · 06/10/2007 13:46

god this thread is dull...

2hot2cook · 06/10/2007 13:46

vacua; i know your right, i know anyone can log in and read this, but maybe its the thought that men are reading it and replying. im sure alot of women feel as i do. i just didnt expect men to be on a website designed for mums thats all.
