my DD was three when she was by the washing machine with my DH. She got hold one of the liquid tabs when he turned his back. She squeezed it and it popped and splashed her face and went in her eye. 60% burn to her cornea. I dont mean to sound like an advert for fairy but according to the hospital, fairy used a chemical which stopped "acting" after a time which saved her sight. seven years ago when this happened other companies were using a chemical which would have carried on burning. So all I would say even if the commercial is annoying or you don't like her it is a very important message. My DH and I are responsible adults with four children who turned our backs for a second and it happened to us.

YABU to buy washing tabs - what a waste of money! Just buy normal laundry powder and a little measuring cup and you won’t have these problems.

I live on my own and it takes me ages to get through a box of washing powder, even a smallish one, as I sort all my washing into separate colours and won't put the machine on unless there's a full load.

I've found in the past that the powder boxes can leak and often make a bit of a mess in the cupboard, the tablet box keeps everything inside it.

I agree it's not the best thing to buy for laundry and wouldn't buy them if I had a family to wash for, but for me they're ideal.

Does anyone else find that sometimes a number of the tabs are stuck together and break and become useless when you try to separate them?

Not happened to me, no.

coniger similar happened to us except it was bitten into. Not even a mouthful as it was instantly spat out.

The only reason an ambulance didn’t come was our close proximity to the children’s hospital but it was on standby. As soon as we arrived we were rushed through and that was for a tiny amount.

So yes I’m glad this message is being reinforced as this happened to us so quickly.

I don't know why the child proof ones aren't an optional extra. I don't have kids to worry about opening them.
