I just want to wash my bloody clothes!
Aibu to be sick of catching my hand trying to get into the washing tab box?? Even when it's left open it seems to jam shut! High on a shelf, in a cupboard away from dc I seriously doubt dc would want to try one...
What simple task is 'dangerous' in your house?

I thought this was going to be a baby names thread.

I don't have a TV, so I have no clue what advertisement anyone is talking about, and have never heard of these people.

I do know that laundry tablets make washing machines smell, though.

sotiredofthislonelylife · 29/08/2020 16:54

@sycamorecottage

I like those laundry adverts...

"Keep away from children"

Jolly good advice if you ask me.

Fabulous!!!
SchnitzelVon · 29/08/2020 16:57

Not seen this! Just buy powder or liquid though so much cheaper.

Can see why they have these boxes...kiddies do seem keen on munching on them. Wasn’t there a wee boy in the last few weeks in ICU after eating one.

.....side note - What the F sort of name is Gigi?? Didn’t someone famous used to have a rat dog called Gigi? Also bar the obvious face inflation I think she’s really pretty, funny how different people view things.

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 29/08/2020 17:07

It's so disappointing to read so many women slagging off the appearance of another woman for no reason at all.
People think men are the only problem Hmm
She seems nice, she's doing an advert and getting some money. Good for her.
I think she's very well known in Ireland.
Side note, all the people objecting to safety measures for children; are you also telling the older people to stay in and avoid the virus so you aren't inconvenienced? Grin

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 29/08/2020 17:13

I doubt that Gigi is a particularly outlandish name if you're French, Spanish or Italian (or of that heritage) - although granted it's probably a shortened form used by somebody officially called Giselle, Gisela or similar.

That's just reminded me of the episode of Outnumbered where Pete's head was turned by a woman known as Mimi, but her real name was Mia/Mea - and Sue ranted her disgust that he could be fancying another woman who, in shortening her name, actually made it longer Grin

I totally agree. By all means laugh at the silly set-up and cheesy dialogue in the advert, but there's absolutely no need for personal attacks. She's just a celeb/personality/model who's taken a job selling laundry tablets, not nuclear warheads.

And all the women being mean are the same ones who no doubt use #Be Kind.

CayrolBaaaskin "She has an enormous chin" "I thought she was a drag queen" Awful.

NiceGerbil · 29/08/2020 17:56

'Side note, all the people objecting to safety measures for children; are you also telling the older people to stay in and avoid the virus so you aren't inconvenienced? '

Older people will likely have even more trouble getting into these bastard containers!

TheVanguardSix · 29/08/2020 17:58

Never bothered with tabs. My own Theodore has grown up and is off to uni. He did a lot of things but he never sucked on a laundry tab and I never needed Vogue Williams' in-flight safety demo to help me separate my whites from poisoning my child. I'm more worried about him coming across tabs of the LSD kind at this point. Help a mother out with this one, Vague Vogue. Offer us some sage wisdom on that one when you're out of Dirty Nappy Valley.

Silvercatowner · 29/08/2020 18:07

I've never heard of any of these people and I'm quite glad I haven't. Thet sound ghastly.

wigglerose · 29/08/2020 18:20

Pre-children I couldn't be fucked with the stupid lids and just used to break them so we didn't have to bother with the tab things you use to open them. I've had to learn how to open them properly now I'm pregnancy.

pigsDOfly · 29/08/2020 18:48

I don't know who this person is that you're all talking about and neither have I seen any ads about soap tablet and children.

I tend to record things on TV and skip through the ads or get up and do things when the ads are on if I'm watching thing that I haven't recorded.

I'm really surprised that people are having such trouble with the clippy detergent boxes though. I'm quite old and I have no trouble at all opening them.

dryoldparty · 29/08/2020 18:58

I just don't see the attraction to tabs over the liquid? They appear to be more dangerous for children, they're more expensive and when I've used them they leave residue on my clothes. What am I missing? What do they have that other methods of detergent doesn't?

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 29/08/2020 19:09

They smell nice (unlike the little noises that Vogue makes when caring for Theodore) Grin

TheWernethWife · 29/08/2020 19:13

SockYarn your post made me spit my tea out.

Ohtherewearethen · 29/08/2020 19:22

@pigsDOfly - she is the future King's (William) sister in law's (Pippa) husband's sister in law, hope that clears it up for you!

WrongKindOfFace · 29/08/2020 19:24

I had no idea who she was but those boxes drive me mad. I usually buy powder and this is one of the reasons I won’t be changing.

pigsDOfly · 29/08/2020 20:05

Thank you Ohthererwearethenfor explaining that, I appreciate it.

Tbh though, I sort of got lost after William's sister in law Grin

Mookie81 · 29/08/2020 20:35

Why isn't she also worried about Alvin and Simon?!

SimonJT · 29/08/2020 20:39

“Click and a clack”

Tabs are very expensive, powder/liquid you measure is so much cheaper. Plus if one bursts they all fucking dissolve.

I’m not sure why people are focusing on her appearance so much and being so nasty about her appearance.

TheKeatingFive · 29/08/2020 20:40

Vogue Williams is part of the chain that links the Queen to Kerry Katona. I’m good with her celebrity status for that reason alone. 😆

cafenoirbiscuit · 29/08/2020 20:43

The whole advert makes my teeth itch

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 29/08/2020 20:53

As someone pointed out upthread, ain’t it interesting that children need to be protected from washing tablets that are assumed - not necessarily correctly - to be used by women?

Power tools on the other hand, and a long list of items mainly assumed to be used by males can presumably be left around the house.

Oh, and thank for the explanation as to who the lady in the advert is. I wonder what the person who actually does the household laundry uses?

Coniger · 29/08/2020 20:59

I think it is a message that needs to be said again and again - sorry

my DD was three when she was by the washing machine with my DH. She got hold one of the liquid tabs when he turned his back. She squeezed it and it popped and splashed her face and went in her eye. 60% burn to her cornea. I dont mean to sound like an advert for fairy but according to the hospital, fairy used a chemical which stopped "acting" after a time which saved her sight. seven years ago when this happened other companies were using a chemical which would have carried on burning. So all I would say even if the commercial is annoying or you don't like her it is a very important message. My DH and I are responsible adults with four children who turned our backs for a second and it happened to us.
