So sad to hear he has passed away. He was a wonderful actor and all round very good human. No AIBU, just feeling sad at the loss Sad

Very, very sad news, he was a fantastic actor and came across as such a beautiful soul in interviews.

RIP.

TheHappyHerbivore · 29/08/2020 07:58

@exLtEveDallas you’re right, thank you for pointing it out - I’ll ask them to change it.

@MolyHolyGuacamole that was a really beautiful comment Flowers

Very sad. A very talented man, and far too young.

LangClegTheBeardedVulture · 29/08/2020 08:02

That’s so sad 😞. He was a fantastic T’Challa. His poor family, he was so young and seemed so fit.

nestisflown · 29/08/2020 08:04

Me too, that film meant so much to me and many others I know in the black community. He was such a gentle soul. Life seems so cruel.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 29/08/2020 08:04

Sad...Couldn't sleep. Went browsing in the early hours. Cried. Very very sad news.

I think it was just absolutely amazing that he continued performing such physically demanding roles whilst simultaneously going through chemo and repeated surgeries with all the travel and promotion that goes with it... and yet he kept smiling and joking with his co-workers and fans! A truly dedicated actor who will be solely missed. My children are gutted this morning. My thoughts are with his family and those that knew him.

Tunnocks34 · 29/08/2020 08:07

I agree. Very sad. I really liked him as an actor, and he seemed like a really decent human being.

A devastating loss for his family and friends.

windyautumn · 29/08/2020 08:07

I'm blown away that he did all those films, particularly the ones as black panther whilst also battling stage 3 cancer and no one knew? All kept private, not affecting his performance. What a legend. Such a talent lost.

JimminyCricketwhites · 29/08/2020 08:08

Oh this is terrible news to wake up to. He was so young Sad
We are huge marvel fans and Black Panther was one of our absolute favourites. I do think he has left a huge legacy in playing the first black superhero in one of these blockbusters. A lot of black children will have been delighted and inspired to see someone who looks like them on the screen. RIP Chadwick.

Zfactorstar · 29/08/2020 08:10

I'm so sad. A friend of mine meet him in California once at a coffee shop and said he was nice and humble. He did post a video a bit ago where he looked very thin but I assumed it was for a role.

nestisflown · 29/08/2020 08:11

I rewatched this interview on hearing the news of his passing. The fact we never knew he was battling cancer, at the time he was writing to those children with cancer who sadly died before the movie came out- is a testament to his character and soul.

It’s no wonder he cried during the interview. I am truly devastated today.

TheHappyHerbivore · 29/08/2020 08:13

@Zfactorstar I assumed the same. He obviously just wanted to carry on as normally as possible for as long as he could.

@RichPetunia

I wonder, could it be that other have heard of him, and that perhaps you're not the only person in the world?

KatherineJaneway · 29/08/2020 08:21

Never heard of him. Not a name I recognise, so had to google.... Still don’t recognise him. Why so devastated?

There's always one Hmm

doadeer · 29/08/2020 08:23

I'm so shocked what a talented lovely man

RunningFromInsanity · 29/08/2020 08:25

Really does show that money can’t buy anything.
Very sad news.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 29/08/2020 08:37

I gotta get up and go to the gym...I gotta learn these lines, I gotta work on this accent

The words 'work ethic' and 'dedication' are truly not adequate. No wonder he broke down. Thank you @nestisflown for that link.

iano · 29/08/2020 08:38

Very sad news!

ILoveYou3000 · 29/08/2020 08:47

So sad. He was a wonderful actor and by all accounts a very decent and humble man 💔

@MolyHolyGuacamole

To the 'I don't understand why you're upset' brigade who have nothing better to do on a Saturday morning; I once read a quote about mourning the death of famous people that went something like this: 'we mourn for them not because we knew them, but because they helped us know ourselves'.

This is especially true for us in the black community, who only see ourselves being killed by police on the news, or portrayed in film as slaves, totally powerless. Other film parts are gangsters/criminals.

Black Panther was a major mainstream superhero that black children could see themselves in. To see that we too can be powerful and proud. We cannot be what we cannot see.

His death has left a huge hole in my heart and he will be greatly missed.

Beautifully put.
JenniferSantoro · 29/08/2020 09:05

I’ve not seen his films or heard of him but I’ve read the articles and he was clearly loved by many people who knew him and had worked with him. He looked like a warm and compassionate man. @MolyHolyGuacamole I can totally see why he would be such a loss for your community. It’s awful to lose someone who gave so much.

YgritteSnow · 29/08/2020 09:18

Can't believe it. I thought it was on those hoaxes when I saw it. Must admit to shedding some tears. Ds will be so upset when he wakes up. He is obsessed with the Marvel films and loved Black Panther. So dreadfully sad Sad

middleager · 29/08/2020 09:21

Very sad.

kierenthecommunity · 29/08/2020 09:28

Oh well if you’ve never heard of him, everybody else who’s in shock is clearly BU then 🙄

I guess all those millions of Marvel fans (myself included) shouldn’t be upset And shocked that a talented, young and apparently fit (and not to mention gorgeous) man, who played the lead role in possibly their favourite film of all time, has died so seemingly suddenly?

GertrudeCB · 29/08/2020 09:33

Incredibly sad news.
