A local family have just returned from Spain- pictures all over Facebook- but they aren’t following GOV requirements to quarantine are blatantly out and about, mixing in large groups etc ... AIBU to report them??

Yes I would. A certain “celebrity” with over 1m Instagram followers was blatantly breaking the rules last week. Several people reported them to the police

The father of my GC expects to still have them, after doing School/Nursery pick up on Monday. Except he was seen boarding a flight for a country on the quarantine list, going on a not needed long weekend away. We are in a added restriction city.

There are some absolute selfish arseholes about. I have friends who are self employed, who will be out of business if they have to close again. I, along with others aren't getting much needed appointments. There's jobs going weekly that won't be replaced. Even if you aren't bothered by Covid, you should respect the consequences for others.

For all of you on here saying dont bother reporting them, dont get involved, you do realise that one person coming back from holiday and ignoring quarantine was responsible for hundreds of infections in Bolton and was almost single handedly responsible for their extra measures. Why should you ignore people being irresponsible when you could end up in lockdown because of them. And why should other people cancel holidays because they cant take time off etc to quarantine.

I also know someone who will be returning from Africa, after being at very large gatherings with hundreds of people. He runs a food shop. I will be reporting him, but I know two other people who are as well. Him, his wife/girlfriends/children (wjo he will insist on having contact with) and a lot of his customers are all vulnerable to Covid.

I would report it. We might not like the rules but they there are for a reason.

THE QUESTION WAS ASKED A MONTH AGO!

But I'd love to know if the report was followed up on?

notimagain · 26/09/2020 08:50

The OP was made a month ago but the likes of marmite raised a different question about another possible quarantine shirker just yesterday so the thread lives on...

... but yes, it would be interesting to see what the OP did and if any action was taken on any report made.

TBH until the authorities throw the book at somebody over this (the Bolton case would seem to be an ideal opportunity to make an example) a lot of people are going to keep ignoring the rules.

Ooh sorry for the double post.

Yes agree, until it's common for people to be penalised then people will be taking their chances.
