A local family have just returned from Spain- pictures all over Facebook- but they aren’t following GOV requirements to quarantine are blatantly out and about, mixing in large groups etc ... AIBU to report them??

OP posts:

I absolute would.
We’ve got a local outbreak caused by a family that didn’t quarantine..

Heffalooomia · 25/09/2020 12:34

I say report them

Notimeforaname · 25/09/2020 13:23

Leave them alone. Worry about your own life, stay away from them and everyone else. Stick to the rules and leave them to it.

if you worry about your own life then you should report them they could start a cluster of infections in your local area that will impact on your own life

What "exemption list"?

No one gets carte blanche to go out socialising when they should be in quarantine

Justajot · 25/09/2020 13:48

Getting a test isn't an alternative to quarantine. That's because they can be incubating the virus, test negative and then go on to actually have it. That's why we aren't testing at borders (plus presumably not having tests available).

I'd report. That's how local outbreaks start.

ShouldWeChangeTheBulb · 25/09/2020 13:50

Some local out breaks have started just by 1 family doing exactly that. I’m lockdown at the moment though and it’s bloody tough.

lifestooshort123 · 25/09/2020 13:53

Report them. The infection rate in Spain is worse than ours. Selfish!

PleasantVille · 25/09/2020 13:54

I know the time is long past now sine this thread started but I think we probably have got to the point where more reporting might help us get outof this more quickly.

Things have got worse since you posted, non compliance is totally selfish now.

Zombie thread

BatShite · 25/09/2020 14:20

Someone I know came back from Spain a few weeks back and work tld her NOT to quarantine as shes needed at work. Works for the NHS too Hmm Seems some employers are actively encouraging people to break rules.

Tbh I probably wouldn't report. But I don't blame people who do. I am massively biased o the reporting thing due to an incident with our neighbour reporting a terminally ill guy for having a little bit of company before he died.

Probably this one:

Mlb123 · 25/09/2020 14:29

If you must interfere then at least try to find a way to warn them so they have a chance to be sensible and start following the rules. If this is about anything else, such as disliking them for an unrelated issue then be aware that it will be obvious that it was more about that, than any real concerns for public safety.

nosswith · 25/09/2020 14:38

Please report them. OP what you describe seems far more than an isolated visit to get food etc.

anuffername · 25/09/2020 15:00

It's a month ago now so I'm not sure what action could be taken retrospectively?

RayOfSunshine2013 · 25/09/2020 15:16

YABU. Absolutely shocked how many people would report!!

workhomesleeprepeat · 25/09/2020 15:18

Very snitchy tbh, but I’d be very interested to see if they got investigated. Do let us know!

cologne4711 · 25/09/2020 15:21

Yes I'd report. For stupidity, actually. It amazes me how many people are parading their breach of the rules on social media.

chergar · 25/09/2020 15:24

Yes report, Iceland have seen a rise in cases, 100 of those cases can be traced back to a couple who tested positive but didn't self isolate.

marmite79 · 25/09/2020 15:24

Having the same dilemma. Family member had been abroad (don't stay where as don't want to give myself away). Pretty sure he isn't isolating as he texted hubby to say he was going shopping... only been back a few days. Don't g abroad if you don't want to isolate. He hasn't got a steady job either so it's not like it's a work issue.

What a bunch of old farts there is on here

Less of blaming the old farts please. I am one and I'm not salivating at the prospect of reporting people to the police, unlike some on here.

anuffername · 25/09/2020 18:38

...but they came back in AUGUST?

YeaSure · 25/09/2020 18:55

Take a photo of them out and breaching isolating rules for evidence. Then report.

Willyoujustbequiet · 25/09/2020 20:15

Yes 100%

Its your civic duty to. They are selfish fuckers whose actions could literally kill people

I appreciate that you can't name the country but is it possible the individual has returned from somewhere exempt from the UK quarantine requirement?
