Tinder is just the worst place to find a relationship

Lots of matches.
Some chat a little but most just want sex.
Some very grim men on there.

AIBU - Tinder is great for finding a relationship

YANBU - is a site for finding casual sex

I met my husband on tinder 🙂

DeepFriedKermit · 28/08/2020 19:31

I've met my other half on Tinder - he's the only one I messaged and met. We're 10 months in and still going strong.

Quacks2020 · 28/08/2020 19:33

Met my partner online. We now have a baby and been together 5 years.
Although I wouldn't go online again. I was lucky and it worked out. But I didn't merely any of his friends or family for 9 months and was so worried about it. Like is he who he says he is (no social media) so I ended it.
He took me to meet them all the weekend after and here we are lol.

I met my DH on tinder, so I have tinder to thank for my DD.

ZigZagPlant · 28/08/2020 19:35

I was 25.

I married my Tinder date and we now have a beautiful 8 week old DS with him! He is the most genuine man I've ever met... but I did have to sift through some SERIOUS douches first.
I had a chat with a single colleague who is on there now... they mentioned that Tinder had changed over the years and that nowadays people feel they have to come up with a shocking opening statement in order to get a reply through all the 'bog-standard' "Hey, how are you?" messages that people receive. Personally I would take a "Hey, how are you" over some seedy opening line any day of the week!

Winecurestiredness · 28/08/2020 20:16

Not tinder, met my soon to be DH on POF 9 years ago and still going strong 2 children later! I was 19 and he was 27, we are 28 and 35 now

I used match (know you have to pay) and found someone lovely

CorrectileDysfunction · 28/08/2020 20:28

I met my husband on Tinder and we are very happy and now have a family.

You probably get the same number of arseholes on Tinder as you do in the standard bar. At least you can google stalk the Tinder lot first, and meet them when you are sober...

WhereamI88 · 28/08/2020 22:13

I would recommend not wasting too much time chatting and meet them very quickly for a drink or coffee so you don't have to waste too much time on any tossers

MoistMolly · 28/08/2020 22:24

Another tinder family here

Northernsoullover · 28/08/2020 22:26

I met my fiancé on okcupid. Is that still going? We chatted briefly on the Tuesday and met up on the Friday. Meet them quickly (and safely) as this avoids building false intimacy through prolonged texting. You can also find out if you are on a hiding to nothing PDQ.
I think online dating is brilliant if you approach it as an add on to living a full life. I think more couples I know met that way than in day to day living.

AlrightTreacle · 28/08/2020 22:41

I met my boyfriend on tinder 4 years ago, went on about 20 first dates with other guys before meeting him, think one of them was a bit creepy, the rest were nice but no spark.

My approach was to meet up soon after chatting (no point in endless texting back and forth), in the day for a walk or a coffee, no alcohol, drove myself and always had something planned for a couple of hours afterwards so could cut it short.

Unmatch any weirdos as soon as they message you something weird, at least on tinder you have some control over how messages you, whereas match.com and pof anyone can.

Met my husband on tinder 6 years ago now. Best thing I've ever done as I would never have met him if it wasn't for the app. We have a lovely family together and I've never looked back.

Waveysnail · 29/08/2020 09:42

Friend swear paid dating sites are better as men are more interested in a relationship. Not sure though as havnt used myself

CSIblonde · 29/08/2020 17:16

I thought it was purely a hook ups site. That's how all the under 30's at work regard it.

BashfulClam · 29/08/2020 19:09

Guys at work say it’s got hook ups (all early 20’s) in met my husband on match 13 years ago. It is a numbers game, talk to several people, meet a few and then whittle it down.
