To HATE washing my hair?

poorlittledoggy · 26/08/2020 20:27

I can't be the only one surely.
I just cannot bare washing my hair.
I'll do absolutely anything to put off doing it. Dry shampoo, messy bun, thick headband.
Why is it such a ball ache?
Just gone 9 days and finally washed it.
It's blonde and frizzy so never looks greasy, doesn't ever smell due to the dry shampoo.
In fact it looks much better, glossier and less frizzy after about 5 days.
It's so thick and if I go to bed with it damp then it will still be damp at lunch time the next day.
If I cut it short then I hate it even more as I have to wash it more frequently as I can't tie it back.
Please tell me I'm not the only one?

My hair look nicest a couple of days after I wash it too; when it’s freshly dried and styled it looks “fluffy” (for want of a better description). Whereas a couple of days later it looks sleek and shiny

hastingsmua1 · 26/08/2020 21:30

Never greasy though, as I have dry hair

poorlittledoggy · 26/08/2020 21:30

@flashbac I rarely wear my hair down tho. Have a pretty physical job and young kids so 95% it's up in a pony or bun.
Worried an undercut would look silly if my hair wasn't down.

I don't mind showering everyday, I like that feeling of feeling fresh. Even if it's a quick 2 minute wash. But hair washing... Omg... What a complete faff , I have long hair and it takes so long to dry! I would wash it more if I could dry it instantly!

Redcrayons · 26/08/2020 21:36

I don’t mind the washing so much, but the drying is a ball ache so I put it off as long as I can. Mine is fine, but loads of it and frizzy so it always looks better after I’ve slept on it.

4/ 5 days is my limit.

Doilooklikeatourist · 26/08/2020 21:41

I wash mine in the shower every morning
One shampoo
No conditioner
It's a fine , chin length bob , and I can shower , wash hair , dry myself , dress , and dry my hair ( even out a dab of make up on ) in less than half an hour
I couldn't face the day without a hair wash , but my hair is easy going

@poorlittledoggy

I'm really really tempted by an undercut. Although when I asked the young trendies at work if I could get away with it they said I was slightly on the old side. I'm mid 30s and really really want one.
Really? I am early 40s and seriously tempted! DH says go for it.....
DevonHoliday20 · 26/08/2020 22:02

(I too always wear mine up, but fancy the undercut anyway)

Fishfingersandwichplease · 26/08/2020 22:03

Yep hate it!!

Anydreamwilldo12 · 26/08/2020 22:06

I wash mine every 3 days if it doesn't look too greasy by day 3. I have discovered Loreal do a dry ends oily scalp shampoo/conditioner which usually gives me the extra third day off😀
I hate washing so much and I wake up on no hair wash days so bloody euphoric that I can just jump in the shower without the faff of hair washing.

Flibbitygibbit · 26/08/2020 22:07

You say frizz op, are you a curly girl ?

Marmunia1975 · 26/08/2020 22:08

That’s the first thing I do in the morning. Walk into the shower.

Horehound · 26/08/2020 22:08

Shave it off

SilverOtter · 26/08/2020 22:09

I can relate. I have very thick hair like yours that takes about 24h to dry by itself. When it's been washed it goes horribly frizzy, and gradually gets less frizzy and more shiny as the days go by until eventually it looks quite nice....then it goes greasy and I have to wash it again!😭

poorlittledoggy · 26/08/2020 22:10

If I blow dry then it's straight but frizzy with random kinks across the back, if I let dry naturally then it's beachy waves but frizzy, if I diffuse then it's frizzy curls!

fishonabicycle · 26/08/2020 22:13

Oh have an undercut! They look fantastic!

Fatted · 26/08/2020 22:23

I used to feel that way about washing my hair when I was depressed and not really looking after myself at all. Also, my hair was far too long (Probably because I was depressed and not looking after myself).

My hair is naturally curly, is about chin length now after a covid unicorn haircut disaster. I can wash it, put product in it and leave it to dry naturally without diffusing it or anything now. The right shampoo and conditioner, the right products and a decent cut do make a massive difference IME.

honeygirlz · 26/08/2020 22:27

I wash my hair by bending over into the tub from the outside, so it’s even more of a faff 😭. I then condition it and then rinse l it out, again outside of the tub. Then jump in the shower to wash body.

Twigletfairy · 26/08/2020 22:29

I shaved most of my hair off, makes life so much easier

WhyIsItSoHardToPickAUsername · 26/08/2020 22:48

@honeygirlz can I ask why you don't just wash it under the shower? Do you have bad eczema or something?

ScubaSteven · 26/08/2020 22:53

I have to wash my hair every day and I hate doing it. I've tried dry shampoo, tying it up etc but it just looks like a greasy mess and I don't feel clean. So I always try a few ways of avoiding it but inevitably end up washing it anyway.

My hair is long and very straight, its takes about 15 mins to wash and dry so not that bad. I still hate doing it though.

winterisstillcoming · 26/08/2020 22:53

I hate it too. And hate going to the hairdresser. I keep it long so I can scrape it back. I work in health care so have to wash it every day that I've been working. This has been the worst part of working during Covid. I actually have lovely hair. It's a shame

U2HasTheEdge · 26/08/2020 22:54

I am 39.

No one notices mine unless I want them to.

In a low pony it is not noticeable at all.

It really is a game changer. I didn't do it to be trendy, it is functional, but I do love the look of it when it is piled on top of my head.

IfeellikeaJoan · 26/08/2020 22:57

I hate washing my hair so much that I shaved it all off! It's grown out a fair bit now but as soon as it becomes a chore to wash again I'll redo it. Life's so much easier!

79andnotout · 26/08/2020 22:58

Yep. Thick, curly hair here too. I just CBA.
