To celebrate back to school

Really looking forward to next Thursday. To be able to take my mum out for lunch and chat, to visit my dad's grave, to see a friend for a coffee and catch up and get my hair cut after 7 months. We love next to a school and have made a good luck happy sign for our window for the primary school children. DS will be starting Y10 and has suffered with school refusal so will be even more happy if he makes it back to see his friends

@itsgettingweird
But can parents just be aware that whilst your planning all these well deserved trips out that PHE has told teachers that basically they should be avoiding these things in their own time to stop spread in schools.
Most people didn't say they were planning anything involving going out, they were saying cleaning and putting the feet up!!! (I'll be cleaning then sitting in the garden with a bun and a book!)

Does nobody have to go to work when their dc go back to school? I love being at home with ds and dh but i was shielding from March and I am so happy ds is able to return to school and i am looking forward to returning to work myself for some normality.

DD is starting reception and I'm looking forward to come quality 1 on 1 time with my 2 year old, which he has never had ever. Having 1 will feel like a holiday. DD is so ready for school, she'll love it.

I work from home even before covid.

I gave up "work" when we adopted ds with SEN and have also been caring for elderly parents

Me too @PablosHoney. I work in a school too. I was just surprised at the amount of pp's saying how it was feet up etc. Nothing wrong with that, just seemed to be a lot at first. I will unlike a lot of pp's really miss being with ds and dh so much but ds needs his education back and i am really looking forward to returning to work myself.

PablosHoney · 29/08/2020 19:26

I’ll miss my kids but I won’t miss home schooling one damn bit, I’m looking forward to working because I’m an adult and I’m good at it ☺️ Most importantly the kids will get a lot out of being back. I’ll admit to only reading the beginning and ending of this thread but lots of people did seem to be looking forward to a coffee/rest, as I said upthread I don’t begrudge that at all but I start back before my kids and I’m full time so it would have been nice to get my house in order/have some silence before getting straight back at it.

Everyone will miss their kids, it's just it will give people a bit of a breather too.

PablosHoney · 29/08/2020 20:23

And that is nothing to be ashamed of 😊 even kids need some breathing space and other people on their level to play with.
