I'm just looking at finances because my husband has left and we are trying to save money.
I've checked the account. He's spending at least £110 a month on vaping.
Is this a lot? Or is it what it costs?
It seems a massive waste of money to me.
He's not even using it to stop smoking. He just started vaping.

I vape, I use 2 120ml bottles of juice a month & a new coil every 2 weeks, I buy my juice in bulk & get 10 bottles for £110, coils cost me £27 for 9. My vape mod was £39 & my tank £25, spare batteries £10. I figure I don't go out, don't drink & don't spend much on clothes, it is my thing.

Who's trying to save money? He certainly isn't if he's spending that each month on something that he just blows :)

A £9000 Bike? Confused clearly he's expecting you to do all the financial 'cutting'

The THC products are alarmingly expensive. The shop that was selling them here (before the raid) were charging £80 for a tiny bottle with low potency, according to the paper anyway.

It could be something like that?

Nat6999 · 25/08/2020 16:37

He must be puffing like a steam train, even when I was vaping all day none stop, I only used just over a bottle of juice a week. I shopped around & got the price of my juice down from £16.99 to £10.99 a bottle.

Quackersandcheese3 · 25/08/2020 16:47

That’s quite a lot. Two of us vape and it’s maybe £16 monthly. Is he buying cbd oil perhaps?

Leaannb · 25/08/2020 16:57

@Feathered

Okay. You are being VERY helpful. So . . . The website is Hyde vapes in London. It doesn't sell cbd as fas as I can tell.
It sounds like he is vaping THC. The smoke shop won't advertise they are selling it. They will ring up other stuff to compensate for the price and to make it legit
CorianderLord · 25/08/2020 17:54

Mine costs £10 for four which lasts me a week, so £40-50 a month. Cheaper than smoking was.

CorianderLord · 25/08/2020 18:14

To spend that on juuls he's need to buy 10 packs a month. That's 40 pods. That's more than one pod per day.

I suppose if he constantly smoked it it's possible but hardly normal

Feathered · 26/08/2020 07:54

THC sounds very likely.
Thank you everyone.
Hmph. Grrrrr.

Speak to him about why it’s so much?

My partner vapes. It is about £15 a month at most (unless he loses yet another e cig!)

romdowa · 26/08/2020 08:04

He is more than likely buying premium liquids , they can range in price but can be 20/ 30 quid a bottle.

trodinaboris · 26/08/2020 08:16

He's a fool.

maddening · 26/08/2020 08:19

Maybe he is paying the gfs vapes as well?

Burnthurst187 · 26/08/2020 08:24

I've only ever known one person go from smoking to vaping and then stop everything. Everybody I know who's gone from smoking to vaping is still vaping years later, isn't the idea that you stop?

OneTC · 26/08/2020 08:26

That kind of expenditure is easy with vaping

It's something that's easy to spend alot of money on, or do cheap, but buying premium juices, replacement coils, any new parts, could run to 110 a month easy

I never even considered myself to be a heavy vaper and got through 30 a week in juice only. Coming from a very heavy smoking habit the expense was never hard to justify

EggysMom · 26/08/2020 08:32

My DH can spend that much in a month on vaping. He doesn't like the box or pen designs of vape, and considers it a risk (autistic son) to be refilling from bottles of vape juice. So he vapes using something that looks like a cigarette (white tube with light on end) and cartomisers (small cartridges of juice) that screw on. It's an expensive way of doing it, but not as expensive as his cigarettes were; and he's a much more pleasant person to be around. I figure that everybody can have a vice, and this is his.

Dumbie · 26/08/2020 08:35

It's easy to spend that much on vaping if you are into it. It's a hobby to some people

CuriousaboutSamphire · 26/08/2020 09:03

isn't the idea that you stop? Not necessarily. The idea is that you stop smoking. But the hand to mouth habit is harder to kick than the nicotine and other chemicals in cigartees. Many vapers choose to continue to vape with vastly reduced or no nicotine as the habit is comforting, stress reducing etc.

That's why it works far better than any of the approved NHS repalcement strategies.

KylieKoKo · 26/08/2020 11:43

I have just spend £100 on vape stuff for me and my partner and i expect it to last 2-3 months at least and that with two of us using it.

Ponoka7 · 26/08/2020 11:47

@StormzyInaDCup, i take it that the whole slut shaming movement passed you by? What exactly makes a woman a slut and a whore?

StormzyInaDCup · 26/08/2020 14:54

@Ponoka7 it didn't pass me by. Sending unsolicited nudes to an inbox for free vape gear? We had several when running comps on fb.

It seems a lot of women think because I run a vape site on fb, that I'm a man. So I see it all. So no, not slut shaming. Saying it as it is actually 🙄

MistressWeatherwax1 · 26/08/2020 14:59

That's a lot. My OH used to smoke about 30 cigarettes a day (that was expensive) then he changed to vaping. He's £15 a month for coils and about £3 a week for vape oil so roughly £30 a month and he's never off the blooming thing.

You do get lots of different oils though and some are more expensive than others but even at that £110 seems a lot.
