To want my neighbour to stop parking in my spot

I have an allocated parking spot in a cul de sac. It's on the deeds to the house and we have the freehold so we own the parking spot. We don't own a car but we use the spot for visitors alot. A neighbour has started parking in our spot every day even though they have 2 spots and there are communal spots (his household have at least 3 cars I think). It started in the lockdown as we had no guests. I have left notes on the car and asked them not to park in our spot because our guests can't use it and it's blocking access for me to get my pram out when there is a car parked there (there is narrow paths and bushes either side). When I have confronted him he says just ask him to move his car when you have guests. But the last two times we had guests he didn't answer the door so my guests couldn't park there. And why should I be inconvienced by him parking on our property.
What options are left now? I assume police and council can't do anything? There is a property management company that manages the communal area because some people own half the property and pay half rent to this company but I assume because we own the freehold they can't do anything? Can I put a parking bollard on my spot? I'm also worried if it goes on for to long they can claim rights to the parking spot. Thanks for any advice

Feck sake OP’s husband!!!
Quite right about the bollard.

DishingOutDone · 30/08/2020 11:36

I think you've really started a parking war now - you spent all that time putting bins out and your DH just says they can park there? Do you not agree that it is your space?

Namechange2020onceagain · 30/08/2020 11:37

FFS DH

Why can't they stick to the plan?

Get the Bollard.

Jidget · 30/08/2020 11:39

@unlikelytobe

I have an idea! How about an inflatable life size car which is secured to the ground and can be deployed from your home - up, down, up.... your guests can park on top of it but a sensor detects CF coming and up it pops like a bouncy castle.

Off to Dragon's Den now.Grin

Genius idea Grin

Or a Joey cardboard box car.

Travis1 · 30/08/2020 11:49

Wtf is wrong with your husband that he said yes?! 🤦🏻‍♀️

DidoAtTheLido · 30/08/2020 12:00

Do they know that you OWN the space?

I would write them a formal but polite letter:
Dear neighbours
I am writing this so that things are clear between us all, as the last thing we need is bad feeling caused by parking.

To be clear, the space next to my house is owned by me, I own the freehold.

I keep this space clear because it is needed for my visitors, and also I can only get my pram out when the space is clear.

I would like to request that from now on you do not park in my property.

Thank you,

Kangaroo.

Think husband said yes as he thought it was for the evening only. Don't think he quite understands they are massive CF entitled pisstakers. He also doesn't like confrontation and is a massive people pleaser. He did not even want to complain when a parcel arrived damaged and the contents broken recently. I'll have to make sure I answer the door next time. Or go over. If I go over now in the mood I'm in I'll probably start swearing and screaming.

Oh for heaven's sake 🙄

stairgates · 30/08/2020 12:08

Thats rude that the car is still there, get your bollard up for definite.

Nquartz · 30/08/2020 12:43

Do it, maybe they'll stop taking the piss if they think you're a nutter!

JanewaysBun · 30/08/2020 12:47

Bloody DH!

Definitely don't let him be in charge of opening the door or speaking to people in futureAngry

ScrewballScramble · 30/08/2020 12:50

Haven’t read the thread but I just wanted to say
PENGUIN BOLLARD

ScrewballScramble · 30/08/2020 12:51

Oh I’m late to the penguin party it would seem 😂😂😂

Littlemissdaredevil · 30/08/2020 12:56

Tell your DH that no - no one else apart from your visitors can park there. They are massive CF pisstakers so if you give an inch they will take a mile

Namechange2020onceagain · 30/08/2020 13:29

I had to ban my DH from making any decisions at the front door after he signed us up to a really expensive gas and electric contract. He is also a people pleaser with an inability to say no.
KaptainKaveman · 30/08/2020 13:44

Outrageous Shock

KangarooAtTheZoo · 30/08/2020 13:46

I had to ban my DH from making any decisions at the front door I will have to do that too.

Just noticed the neighbour has one of his spots free but still has one of his cars parked in mine. He is parked in mine when he does not even need to. So definitely CF entitled!

Will this type of bollard be good enough

LTB!!! Shock

You can rent a drill pretty cheaply and install a bollard by yourself. It's really not hard to do.

wowfudge · 30/08/2020 14:32

Your neighbours are rude CFs. I'd be going round and telling them to move the car as they were far exceeding the time agreed to.

pinkyredrose · 30/08/2020 14:43

Oh you're married to a people pleaser. Your whole life will consist of varying degrees of mitigating his fuck ups. I'd ask him to go over there right now and ask them to move the car.

justilou1 · 30/08/2020 14:57

Go over and tell him to shift his car into his own damn car park and not to come back again!

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 30/08/2020 15:14

Send your useless DH over to tell them to move the car.

dimdarkashian · 30/08/2020 15:15

Please report back with their reaction once you've installed the bollard Grin

FancyARoot · 30/08/2020 15:22

Oh my goodness 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😂😂

Nikori · 30/08/2020 15:36

Just make sure if you install a bollard that your DH doesn’t give them a spare key.
