To ask them to be quiet

My neighbour's teen is having a party. Her parents are away. There's noise outside my window from people organising more people to join and one kid just peed on my drive. He shouted back "sorry I'll just be a second!" terribly politely but I'm knackered now and want them all to bugger off. The door slamming and shouting outside is doing my head in. I'm a boring old witch aren't I? How late is late enough to shout "pipe down'" or will I always seem deranged and mortify the teenager who is lovely and whose parents we get on with really well? And would you want to know if your kid had a party? I wasn't planning to tell. Just tired and a bit bored of being awake so thought I'd ask the MN night shift! Grin

It’s 1am. I’d be seriously pissed off.

vegansprinkle · 22/08/2020 00:54

Call the police

polkadotpjs · 22/08/2020 00:56

The old lady opposite has her bedroom light on too. I might go out or hang out the window in my t shirt and pants and scare them off with my bra- less boobs and mad hair

Vegan I don’t know about your area but everywhere I’ve lived the police won’t deal with noise unless it’s out of control/drugs etc. Though in the current situation it’s possibly breaking social distancing rules so may be worth a try...

purpleme12 · 22/08/2020 00:56

Someone peed on your drive?!

BruceAndNosh · 22/08/2020 00:57

If people are contacting more complete strangers to turn up, the parents and possibly the teen will be grateful if you intervene!

lastqueenofscotland · 22/08/2020 00:57

God I missed the bit about peeing on the drive. I’d have gone fucking nuclear about that!!!

polkadotpjs · 22/08/2020 01:00

I shouted at him and said Jesus Christ it is not ok to pee there - over the low walk into the bushes at the front of drive but still- vile

It depends what kind of age the teen is and how many people are there. If they are late teens and it rarely happens and it's not 20, 30 peoole. I'd leave them to get on with it and put my pillow over my head or try fall asleep with my telly on. If they are young teens or the number of people seems out if control I'd likely call the police incase its getting out of hand and the teen cant handle it or is partying without permission.

notintergalatic · 22/08/2020 01:01

When I was that age it wasn’t really a party unless the police showed up.

naechunce · 22/08/2020 01:03

The peeing is not ok! However our best friends/next door neighbours kids are teenagers and have only once had a party. We tolerated it as he's a nice kid and we could cope for one night. I get why your pissed off though!!!!

polkadotpjs · 22/08/2020 01:08

It's kissing down now so they've moved inside. I just went to the loo and it's not as noisy out back now so maybe they're winding down. They woke my teen but he's now asleep again so if I get back to sleep I'll let them be. It's not huge amounts of people
The guy who was just outside sounds like a right little dickhead though. I recognise his type from the parties of my youth - ooh maybe I'll start a new thread about parties you went to as a teen. Feel free to add them here though- now I'm awake I'd like to be entertained. I went to one where I was trying to go to bed with my boyfriend in one of the many bedrooms but my friend who was quite unaware of what she was doing cane in to chat and decided to pop her sleeping bag in the same room and so my teenage lust was left hanging...like my baggy cheesecloth top and long hair !

Yes the kid is lovely and it's A level celebration I think. They've had a shit time with the exam result fiasco so if it stays as quiet as it is now then I'll let her be.

polkadotpjs · 22/08/2020 01:10

Many typos sorry. It's pissing down though kissing down sounds nicer

Sweet dreams. You’re a good neighbour

lookatmememe · 22/08/2020 03:14

Hope it stops raining in time for you to mow the lawn and valet the car both before 8am!! ( just a little pay back for them !)

Yumpty · 22/08/2020 03:59

A girl at my school had a parry whilst her parents were away and the place got wrecked - tv smashed, walls kicked in.

I was not very popular at school, so never got invited to parties - just as well, really.

Hope you are now asleep.

Jokie · 22/08/2020 04:26

I'd consider going round in the morning and speaking to the girl if you get on well and say: please let me know in future if you're having a party and one of your guests peed on my hedge. If appreciate if you could hose it down.

hastingsmua1 · 22/08/2020 04:45

This is not a police matter ffs

polkadotpjs · 22/08/2020 07:45

Well there were various additional wake ups at 2,3 and 4 and 4 seems to be when they cleared off. Pissing boy (distinctive Whitney voice) was heard again but I did loudly shhh from the bedroom as my son woke up a few times. I'm knackered now and meant to be camping today! And the rain continues. We shan't be quiet packing the car. I may pop on some music too ...queen don't stop me now to start?

MeridianB · 22/08/2020 07:53

You’re more patient than I would be.

Please tell your neighbours all the details when they get back.

The peeing on your drive, lateness of noise and Covid risk is all really, really poor.

showmethegin · 22/08/2020 07:58

Obviously it's finished now but if have been tempted to leave them to it. I'd be really annoyed but a-level kids have had a really bloody stressful week and lord knows we have all done the teenage party thing when our friends parents were away when we were that age.

I couldn't get too worked up if it was just one night.

showmethegin · 22/08/2020 07:59

And don't dob them in to their parents like a pp has suggested! We've all been there

Weebitawks · 22/08/2020 08:00

Oh god I had an awful party once when I was in 6th form and my parents were away. I ended up hiding everyone's shoes in the morning so they couldn't leave before they helped me clean up.

I still laugh at the thought of all the shoeless boys using the hose to clean their vomit off the front drive.

premiumshoes · 22/08/2020 08:29

@hastingsmua1

This is not a police matter ffs

I suppose it depends how many people were at the party.
