Rent arrears

According to news night there are thousands of people who have fallen behind with their rent. Whilst I appreciate some are genuine I can’t see how anyone on benefits or on a pension can have been that badly affected. Similarly with people furloughed.
So my question is are a lot taking advantage of a bad situation.?

Yes a lot of people are genuinely struggling but a lot of people are also using this opportunity to take the mick. I work in a role that sees it everyday.

This thread was in no way meant to minimise the effect on genuine cases or imply that people on benefits etc were at fault. I apologise to anyone who I have offended.
Without going into details I am well aware of how hard life can be, I was faced with possible eviction when my ex walked out and left me with 3 children and 7 months mortgage arrears, which I was completely unaware of. At that time there was no government money available for childcare.
However I was fortunate in that I had a job. So I do know what it’s like trying to juggle finances on a minimum budget.

Quite a few pensioners have been widowed recently (there's been this virus around see) and are now living on one pension, or a widow's pension, rather than two.

😂😂😂😂

You really are clueless!

Your "tough time" you had a job AND a HUGE asset you could have sold if necessary!

No idea at all!

Pixxie7 · 21/08/2020 22:48

I was in negative equity so no I couldn’t have sold it, I also had 3 children to support. So yes it was a tough time.

Well

1 I'm highly sceptical the negative equity part is true as given your behaviour on thread I think you'd have mentioned that earlier

2 it's STILL not the same as being on the bones of your arse with no job, no assets and no secure home which many of us on thread and the people you poorly attempted to vilify were/are/have been

Never heard of when you're in a hole stop digging?

I'd say that's tough OP, but you mentioned benefits, which is a red flag to some to minimise your issues. I can see some people may be worse off than that (just as I can see there will be people better/worse off than the ones berating you)! Some people are def taking piss and some people are genuinely struggling too much to pay their full rent. Not many have gone up in arms that you've used the word pension in the same way you've used benefits I.e. simply to use as a measure of income pre and post Covid. You said the benefits word though which clearly means you're Satan in some peoples' eyes!
Pixxie7 · 22/08/2020 19:19

Thank you, as you say I only used benefits as a measure. I do understand that a lot of people are suffering and if nothing else Covid has highlighted the problems faced by people on benefits. It was not directed at them.

I know. It came across that way (to me) in your posts.

Noneformethanks · 22/08/2020 21:49

Do,you now understand that some of us get benefits and work full time?
